SCP-6200 question

Since this phone is CDMA can it be used on a Verizon network or am I stuck with Sprint service only?

If it can be used does it need to be converted somehow? Thanks!

If you want to use your 6200 on Verizon, you'll have to see if they allow your ESN in their database. You'll also need the provider lock from Sprint to remove the provider lock and allow for use with another CDMA carrier. That too, must be allowed by Sprint.

I'm unfamiliar with US networks so if anyone has had a similar situation, feel free to jump in.

You are stuck with using it with Sprint only unfortunately. You need a tri-mode (AMPS 800/CDMA 800/CDMA 1900) phone in order to use Verizon in most areas and the Sanyo is only a dual-mode (AMPS 800/CDMA 1900). The subsidy lock that Bonka mentioned is also a problem since Sprint will not give you the master subsidy lock code if you tell them you are taking the phone to another carrier.

And even if Verizon would activate it (you get the subsidy code and are in one of the few Verizon 1900MHz markets) it still may not work properly. Sanyo seems to be making phones exclusively for Sprint PCS in the U.S. and optimizes everything on its phones for Sprint.

I just got a Verizon phone and I really wish I could bring over my 6200 also, since I really like that phone. Sanyo and Verizon really need to get together and produce a tri-mode 6200 that will work on Verizon's service.
