hey can one of you lucky dogs out there that has a i870 post the codeplug. chris5h is usually right on this, but i haven't seen one yet and have been waiting.

16 will read an i870 just fine. It's out there if you look hard enough.

Yeah I have the latest Carrier and I was able to change the stuff on there so I don't have those "robotic" voices on my i870. The funny thing, is that most of the stuff is already 3:1 Half rate only. I guess they had so many complaints they switched it back to 3:1 instead of 6:1. But I still had it, so I had to modify a couple other settings. It works great for me now though! Anyone know any mods to the codeplug that you can do to the 870? Also, whats this push to view stuff? I am not totally understanding it, and I saw that there is a setting on the phone for it now.

This is all I know that can be done for the i870

String Mods (Power Up)
Disable the shutter sound for the camera
OTC enable
MO-SMS Enable(Text Messaging)
GPS Disable
Subsidy Unlock - DOES NOT DISABLE THE DOUBLE LOCK FEATURE
American dialing
Screen saver on
WiDen - activated by default on 870

The only thing off that list that I would want is to disable the shutter sound for the camera. God that thing is annoying. I am going to hook my 870 up to RSS tonight and see if I can figure it out....

Unfortunately the 870 cannot be unlocked through the CP.

This is going by memory since I don't have a 870 CP handy, but I believe its User Ergonomics>General>Line 221

he he it's not, itsuser ergonomics/general/ line 89 and it only has a dropdown list with 2 different sounds but no way of disabling...........................

You know whats funny? there is probably someone in here that could say with certainty how to do it, its just a matter of time.

I just downloaded a 870 CP and checked. It is most certainly User Ergonomics>General>Line 221.

i don't think he's talking about version 16... there are way more advanced versions of rss that we are not allowed to discuss here. these other versions can edit the more sensitive areas of the codeplug and were never intended for use by the public

The link i posted was a tutoral on how to disable it without the codeplug or RSS. You need labjal to do that and i'm guessing thats why it was deleted almost immeditly.

I would post a link but i think i may get in trouble. Check the newbie school section on idengods for it if you really don't want a shutter sound on your i850, i860 and i870.

ROM13 phones (with the exception of the i930) can only be unlocked by one man. In your title you have a i860 which is a ROM9 phone. That phone can be unlocked on different iDEN forums. The phone needs to be on hand, I haven't heard of anyone do remote unlocks on the ROM9 phones.

Yes TONES . can not be unlocked . And there is more then one person unlocking double locked phones . But its expensive and its not worth it . Jus wait it will be out there for everyone . Soon . Trust . Testing a few methods now . I know what people are using .

Need some help with an i870 cp. I'm using it with boost. Should have waited and just bought the i875. Boost sez they can't make mms work because its a nextel imei number and its locked. I'm wondering if the subsidy lock is turned off perhaps that may help. Is there and upgrade utility to change this to an i875, the phones from what I see are idenitcal. Can I email my cp to someone?

I know this might be a stupid question but I need to know how to fix this problem. I'm using windows 2000 at work. I'm trying to use super agent to connect to my phone I have an i870. It reads the phone then makes the phone enter in rss--sim mode, then it comes up with an error message saying it can not communicate with the phone. Also it will let me read the sim and get the phone #'s it will not let me read the phone it self. I want to turn off the shutter sound on my i 870. Can some one let me know what I'm doing wrong. I really need to get this fixed. Yes and to let you know I have super agent 1.16. You know it is sad that I work at a nextel store and they do not supply us with the right software to connect to the phones. I have tried to connect to every phone nextel has and it tells me the same thing with every phone. Please let me know how to fix the problem. Thanks

sorry but codeplugs don't work that way. You can't use just any codeplug you find. It has to be the codeplug of the phone you are trying to write to.

yes i understand you cant just use a different codeplug but i wanted to open a i870 from telus and open mine and compare / contrast the two in 2 seperate sessions of the RSS program.
