Audiovox SMT 5600 Speakerphone before connection?

I saw this phone at a Cingular store and checked out the Audiovox 5600. It was very solidly built, but I forgot to check out one of the most important features to me. Does it allow speakerphone mode before the phone connects with the other party? I really hate having to wait till I am connected before turning on speaker. It kind of negates the point of having it.

I routinely dial, hit the green button, and then hold it down. It turns on the speakerphone before the other person picks up.

It's not technically before connection...but close enough. Works great.

Just got the phone from att insurance replacement for my Nokia 6620 and i love it and thanks for that tip about the speaker phone before that i thought it didn't even come with one.
