5600 deletes read email - help

I know I've seen this somewhere on HoFo, but I can't find it again. I just got my 5600. I got email working. Messages come in to the phone, also go to my PC. Great. But once I've read an email on my phone and return to the inbox, the previously read message is gone. I've looked through the manual but can't find a setting to change this. There's gotta be one, it's just not obvious (to me). The next thing is going to be saving an attachment, so if you've got any hints for that, I'll be listening.....
