same thing happend to me also i tried a hard reset still dont work. now i just forget about it because the camera is crap anyways

Did it happen after a software upgrade/install or a drop or anything coincidential?

no, no installing programs, no drop, nothing....

Hmmmm....

i have the same problem, cam suddenly doesn't work.

however, it wasn't exactly so 'sudden'. I was out one drunken night and dropped some money in a dark field. I remembered my old e715 used to have a flashlight feature (i miss that phone) so i pulled out my mpx220 and tried to light up the flash to search. Of course i know now that the flash was not meant to stay on for an extended period, but at the time i started taking pictures of the dark ground so the flash would stay on. I did this about 8 or 10 times, none of the pictures would save due to extreme darkness (even w/ the flash). When i tried it the next day the cam would just be black, and lag like crazy, as if i were still in the field tryin to take pictures of the dark ground close-up. now nuthin works, not cam, not video, and i didn't even find my money!

ima try and flash it to 1.43 from 1.30 (i've been meaning to do that anyway). I'll let u know how it goes.

Has anyone heard of anything similar happening? or have any suggestions?

Well guys you have just been punked....welcome to the "elite" club of ppl who have this problem. I had the mpx for almost 6 months and after that suddenly the cam had some kinda nervous brkdown.

I tried everything from hard reset to firmware change ...but it didnt help...
finally I opted for the wise mans' approach...

I got the every so buggy swapped for the SMT5600.. and I am planning to live happily with my SMT for some time now, i.e. till Cingular launces their nxt installment of WINMOB 5 SP. and by the way I am with AT&T now....no eary termination fee for the AT&T folks doin the switch to Cingular.

I had the same problem, my mpx220's camera just stopped working. I tried a hard reset and the problem continued; however, today my camera resumed normal operation without me doing anything. Chalk it up to the mpx220's abnormal behavior.

I have the exact same problem. I bought this phone in HK, do u guys think that Motorola will help me fix that?
