Good MP4 movie encoder?

Has anyone found a really good MP4 movie converter? The one that I downloaded converted a 750mb file down to a 500mb file....and in my book, that really isnt much compression. If anyone out there has had luck with another program to where I can compress the files down into the 200mb range, please let me know.

use Pocket DVD way better it costs 32.00 from Handango but it's well worth it you can do a 2hr movie (i did rounders) in a little over and hour (which is almost half the real time of the the movie). what PocketDVD does is records the movie in a fast forward while it is playing in the program and doesn't re-encode so thats how you save your time. and has functions like set a start and stop time so you can cut out the credits and a "shut down computer" function so you gat do a movie right before you go to bed and write straight to the card

I use DVD Shrink and pocket Divx encoder

Both Freeware

What will DVD Shrink read as a input file? VOB, MPG, AVI? What type of output file sizes can I expect for a full movie?
