This might belong in the Samsung threads but I'm a Sanyo fan and this is my home.

Just read about the A600 on phonescoop.com this morning. Looks like this will be the next phone with the integrated camera. They practically stole from the Sony Clié PDAs and put the lens on the hinge and made the top half (the screen) rotate so the display faces out when the phone is closed.

No release date or price. It really doesn't matter to me that much. I like my Sanyo and I wouldn't consider buying another phone, at least for another 15 months (which is my current phone-exchange rate). I'm holding out for the SCP-5600 with video streaming and atom-beaming technologies. ^_^

I thought that the SCP-5500 was the one with the atom-beaming and the SCP-5600 was the one with the personal wormhole generator. Damm, more waiting now.

there's little reason to compare the two for one simple reason:

5300 is a phone you CAN have NOW;
a600 is a phone you CANNOT have NOW.

Technically, the atom-beamer (a.k.a. teleportation) would be the SCP-5450, since Sanyo seems to like increments of 150 on their 5000 series. (But I'll shut up before you start calling me a nerd and throwing rotten tomatoes at me)

And it's almost a given that people will start comparing the 2 phones once the A600 is released. The duration between the FCC approval of the 5300, and it's release date, is less than 3 months. If Samsung follows the same timetable (not saying it will or won't) then it's almost a given that come March people will be comparing and getting into flame wars about which of the 2 phones is better. I've seen enough on the A500 to last me until then.

Of course, as it stands right now, it's 5300 hands down, just because, yes Mr. Wenjamin, it is out NOW. (Although most retail stores don't seem to think so at this moment in time. -_-)

i use to be a a500/samsung fan but now that i have the 5300 i don't think i'm going back. The rf on my 5300 is unreal just about every where i go i have full bars. i love the 2.1 srceen and the 65k color external lcd. this is my thoughts but the 5300 looks better than the a600 i'm not digging the camera on the hinge. i hope this phone doesn't get hot like my old a500.

I use to have an A500. The battery got so hot that the navigation buttons felt like they were almost scalding my skin.

No matter what, I don't think I will go back to Samsung. Only owned the A500, but, that was enough for me.

I think they do test them, don't they? Anyway, it's to my knowledge that several phones have problems in the beginning. I could be wrong though. I've only had 2 phones that I got the day they were released - A500 & 5300 - both needing upgrades. But, it took a while for the upgrade for the A500, if I remember correctly. I know that there were upgrades for the 4900 too.
