am i looking in the wrong place, because i'm not finding but a handful of unlocked phones that operate in the 850MHz band....and those that do are Quadband (which is good) but they are pretty expensive....are there Triband phones that operate in the 850MHz band? i'm looking for companies because i don't know if i can trust sending a couple hundred dollars to a user on ebay...

where are people buying their phones?

What are you looking for? an unlocked 850Mhz dual band or triband for $99? good luck.

at what point did they state $99 was their price range?

The thing with 850, there aren't many phones that are made with that band that aren't sold through providers. There are some quadband ones but a company isn't going to produce a triband phone with 850 unless its going to sell it through a NA provider since there isn't another market for it

no, not $99...i'm willing to pay $100. seriously though, the quad bands i've been seeing are around $400 or more...i was hoping to spend a little less...

so if i'm going to find an unlocked 850 i'll have to go with the more expensive quad band or go to a place like ebay and buy from a user who has had the phone unlocked...just cautious of sending a person hundreds of dollars...i guess i'll look for someone who has a very high rating...

thanks for your replies...

i'll give the v635 a look...i don't need a bunch of features...calls, camera would be nice not necessary, speaker phone would be nice or bluetooth or both, must be small (i always carry the phone in my front pocket)...i like the new nokia, i think it's the 6102 that is on the 850 band...

forgot to mention...i really liked the v80....cheap and full of features....however, it's not on the 850 band...

the 6101 has 850 aswell

unless there are multiple 6101's out there, all i can find do not operate on the 850 band, only the 6102.
