applied online.. any tips or hints?

One of the cingular retail stores here in my area had an opening on the website so I applied is there any tips I should know, when I went in to talk to them about it, they said they get all their employees they get from the web.. How long does it take for a reply.. any other info would be great. Thanks

Generally you should get a call within a week or so if they are interested. The call will be from a "prescreener" who will ask you various questions about sales experience. If you do well with that, i believe they then forward resumes to sales managers of hiring stores. My only tip to you would be to have specific situations availible at your disposal to refer to about sales experiences. If this is your first sales job he/she may want specific life experiences that may carry over to sales; I.E. times that you have been able to persuade people to things you believe or whatever. Just be yourself and be confident and you should do fine. Goodluck, hope you get the call!

I've dug around the cingular corp site but can't find anywhere to apply online - where did you guys apply at?

It's on the bottom of the main page. Scroll down until you see a bar across the bottom of the screen, and click on 'Careers'. The rest is self-explanatory.

tip 2.. find a non-corp store and try an apply there!

If you can't find the jobs section on ANY corp site (and Cingular's is pretty easy to find), you shouldn't be in the corporate world. Have fun at McDonald's....
