Nokia 9500 bellnet SMTP timeout

Ok, I have tried researching about this problem - seems like this is not a common issue, at least I have not found anything useful.
I have a Nokia 9500 that I want to use an email client on with a bellnet account. The recieving server works fine and I am able to get mail, but the sending server times out when trying to send mail.
I have tried the same set of settings on windows and the mail gets sent.
Does anybody have a clue what I am missing?

hm, seems to be the problem with bellnet, other servers work just fine.

Your SMTP should be from the carrier you're using...not Bell as the 9500 is a GSM phone...so your SMTP (i'm guessing you're in Canada) would either be Rogers or Fido or one of their re-sellers.
