LG vx8100 or Motorola E815 or what??

Ok, I can't decide on which phone to get for my Verizon service. I was thinking about getting the LG because I like its design and it looks pretty sturdy. But now I've heard that it's mp3 capabilities are weak, its speakers will go out eventually and the tranfer of files capabilities is bad (I really don't care about Bluetooth, but can't I just put the mini card I get into my card reader on my computer and then just put music files on there? or use a USB cable?) And then I heard there is an update which fixes all/most of the LG problems...or something like that. Now for the e815, I liked its sleek design but it doesn't appeal to me as much as the LG vx8100. I also liked the e815 because it has better performance compared to the LG since all the LG stuff is like "locked" or whatever...If I knew that I can "tweak" the vx8100 to get around some of Verizon's stupid locks then I would probably go for the LG, but I'm still not sure yet...so I don't know...in your opinion, which phone should I get?

I'm also thinking about switching over to Cingular and just buying an unlocked Motorola v635 which seems to have a lot of high-end features for just around $250, which isn't that bad.

Thanks.

go for the E815. it has the best RF of all-digital verizon phones (MUCH better than the vx8100), has great battery life, a better speakerphone than the vx8100, a better camera than the vx8100, no durability problems so far even though the hinge is kind of weak when a leather case is used, looks great, feels great...i love it! not to mention there are seem edits to enable all things verizon disabled in minutes. don't switch over to cingular. phone choice isn't work it. e815 has it all and it's not worth losing verizon's far superior network and customer service (remember, the grass always seems greener til you switch). keep the V and get the e815. you won't regret it.

Actually I decided not to switch because it would just be a huge hassel of having to tell everyone my new number because I don't want to pay extra to keep my number. So you say E815 is better? ok...I've been leaning towards that phone, except I just like the design and the stereo speakers of the VX8100. So you were able to take care of all the disabled file-transfer issue that Verizon imposes? That was one of my reasons to switching to Cingular so I could actually use Bluetooth fully like how I did with my old SE T616. Oh one more question, do you guys know where I can get one of these phones *no contract* without having to deal with Verizon because I'm sure I would have to pay more if I went directly to them.

anymore opinions?

the seem that fixes the bluetooth issues is posted in the motorola phones subforum in the verizon forum. it enables EVERYTHING verizon blocks. you'll have to buy a data cable in order to do this. the speaker is adequate on the E815 for listening to mp3's in a quite room. as for a noisey environment, neither the 8100 or 815 will work so you're not really using anything. the E815 comes with a headphone jack so you'll be able to listen to tunes on the go. it's a great choice.

Oh ok good it comes with a headphone jack...yah that is what I was hoping I could use the phone for...a mini mp3 player...cause at times I just don't feel like taking my ipod all over the place...so yah...then I guess I have mind made up then. Now time to go find a place that sells the E815 at a cheaper price than if I were to buy one at Verizon. Thanks for the help.

it's free on amazon.com. give them a shot. they boast that it ships in 24 hours.

yah but its free with a new service plan. i'm still in contract, and my vx6000 is gonna die out soon so i need to find a place to buy it without contract for less than what verizon sells it for...i think verizon sells it for like $319 w/o contract...is there any place that sells it cheaper? or am i just going to have to get lucky on ebay?

go through motorola.com. it's 299.99 and i believe there's a promotion code floating around hofo for money off. it winds up being 229.99 or something. search for the promotion code. if not, start a new thread and i'm sure someone will give it to you.

FYI: The e815 doesn't support JAVA so if you were planning on playing games on your phone or using apps you won't be able to.

gotta LOVE BREW!!! BREW = NO JAVA!
