I just got my 4900 in today. Love the phone so far! My plan is changing to a new retention plan in January and they said the vision won't go active until January? I did hit the Web button and tell it to connect. It connected fine and showed me a vision home page thingy with the weather and few news lines etc. Is this vision or the 2g wireless web? I wonder if I got charged for this since my vision isn't supposed to go active until January. After I got the phone activated and the lady asked me to hold while she added vision to the plan the phone displayed a box about the phone being upgraded for about 2 or 3 minutes.

How can I tell if my vision is active or not from the phone?

Yes, you're on vision. The 3G phones cannot access the 2G wireless web. Be careful about usage though - at .02 per kb it can get very expensive. Most people aren't being charged now because the billing system is not set up, but you might want to check with customer care to be sure.

So I guess I should wait until Janaury when the customer rep said the vision and my new plan will go active right?

When I got my new plan with 3 months of free Vision, it went into effect immediately, even though my new plan was not to start for another 12 days. I probably used about 1-2MB worth and didn't see any charges on my statement. Not sure if they'll pro-rate that 3rd month with part of the monthly $10.00 charge since I started using it early. Who knows? Maybe they'll give me the extra 12 days! (But then again, this is Sprint we're talking about here)
