I loaded mp3 ringtones from www.realringerz.com and uploaded them using bitpim. I dont' understand the problem people are having with this. Am I missing something?

Posted by: goretex11

Why are you changing the file extension? The phone READS MP3's. No need to change it at all.

Posted by: Dammit100

Do I need the USB cable for this to work, or can I just do it using a miniSD card?

Posted by: ryan2589

Same question I have ^

Posted by: jammy26

Whats all this commotion about? I have quite a few MP3s set as my ringtones. And I didn't have to change any extension.
If you have V04 on your 8100, a data cable and Bitpim, you just need to drag n drop those MP3s into Bitpim, and it even converts and clips the length of the MP3 as per your desire. Yeah, you'd need a Bitpim and a data cable...get one off ebay for 5-7 bucks. Not sure about the SD card option though. Probably someone who has tried that could answer better.

No, at this point you must have a data cable in order to use mp3s as ringtones, but you can listen to mp3s if you have a card reader and a memory card.
