Hello all,
i resently bought a USD cable and a memory card for my vx8100. I downloaded the USB driver for the LG phones but in no way can i get windows to recognize my device.
The drivers seem to intall fine, but as soon as i plug in my phone it does not recognize it. The result is that i have an "uknown USB device" in my device managet (you know...that annoying yellow question mark).
Bitpim does not recognize my phone and i cannot do anything with it...i feel so useless
My phone has firmware V4 and my PC runs on Windows XP SP2.
I would appreciate if you could help me with this! You can also send me your insight at aeon1974@aol.com
Thanks a lot!

It sounds like the same problem I had. I used the disk that came with my cable. I installed with the phone connected and it said it installed successfully, but then it would just open up the wizard and try to install again. Everytime this showed up I just kept reinstalling it and it finally worked. Don't know why exactly it worked but it does and I haven't had any problems yet. It took me a while and I uninstalled it a couple of time too. Good luck.
Here are the settings that I remember messing with and what they are set at now.
under tools, pc connection set PC Connection to USB
under menu 0, 000000 set Portmap(data) set to USB CDC and Protmap(diag) set to UART1

Thanks for the info...i have tried everything to no avail.
Nothing seems to work with my phone. I believe that the drivers are ok since BitPim is openning the COM port successfully and trying to communicate with my phone. The problem is that my phone refuses to communicate, no matter what i do.
I am beginning to think that there's a fault with either my parallel to USB cable or the phone itself....

I think it still might be your driver from what you said in your first post. With your phone connnected go to your Control Panel, System, System Properties, Hardware, Device Manager, Ports on your computer does it show "LGE CDMA USB Serial Port(Com #)" Where # is the com number assigned to your phone. It should also show up under USB also, if it has a little yellow exclamation point its not working properly and it's a driver problem. Good luck.
