Troubleshooting 9300 email

Got a wild one...
Been using 9300 email with mutiple POP3 accounts, works fine (actually, works fabulous over T-Mobile's EDGE network -- EDGE makes mobile email speeds acceptable). Suddenly, today, one of my POP3 accounts can't download messages or message headers. After indicating network connection (G with a box around it) and showing connection with the POP server (including showing total number of available downloads, as in "1 of 517 messages"), I get an error statement reading "Cannot retrieve message headers, System: Already exists". Craziest thing is I can send email through this server, just can't download. Other POP account works fine.
I've done the obvious stuff -- can use both POP accounts from laptop, deleted problem POP account and recreated, reformatted 9300 (CTRL+SHIFT+T) and recreated all POP accounts -- with no change in results. Can't be a 9300 email client problem as I can send to problem POP account as well as fully use working POP account. Can't be a POP server problem as it works fine over laptop. Web browsing on 9300 works fine.
I'm baffled by this one. Anyone else seen this?
Kind regards,
