I am mostly happy with my Nokia stick phone except when I forget to lock the pad. I want to buy a flip phone.
1) Primarily a voice phone. Data, e-mail, internet will be unused.
2) Outside LCD to show phone number.
3) Maybe speaker phone.
4) Any brand.

Please recommend a few to choose from. I want to buy from e-bay, new or used.

One more question. Can I buy an unlocked T-Mobile phone and will it work as well as Cingular phone?

Thanks.

It will work but most tmob phones do not have the 850mhz band. I would recoment the razor, or the V500 series. Id stay away from the v180 or 220

Nokia 6101 T-Mobile
Nokia 6102 Cingular

Nokia 6102 thru Cingular...

Nokia 6170b, if you get it from NokiaUSA.com or EBay.com...

go for it.

These phones are about $150. Would you folks lower the level to about $100? (unless there is much to lose) Thanks.

I'll second the S/E Z500a for the features you mentioned. You can find them on Ebay for right around $100.00 shipped.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Let me ask you just one more question. Can I buy a prepaid cell phone and use it with my SIM? (as far as the phone is unlocked and has 850/1900)

Thanks.

Get a V330 from Amazon. $110.

If you are happy with Nokia then you should not change brands, trust me... it will feel like someone slapped you in the face if you move to another UI.

Hence... the 6102 is the only logical choice. If you are eligible for an upgrade then you can get it for $89.

Yep, that'll work fine with a Cingular GoPhone. Not sure about a TracFone GSM phone. I believe those have special firmware loaded that won't accept another SIM, period, but I could be wrong.

As for GoPhone, you can buy one from www.cingular.com/gophone and use it.

Nokia 6102. IMO most durable, best reception, best battery life. Great phone!

Thanks for the tips. Nokia 6102 around $200 at ebay is too much for me. I am with ATT Wireless and not eligible for phone upgrade, unless I upgrade my plan to Cingular's.

Mark,
Can TMobile V330 prepaid phone be unlocked and used on Cingular? If it can be done, it seems to be the most logical choice. All flip phones seem to be around $100 slightly used.

Thanks.

Moto v635 all the way.... Great features, just played with one for the first time... if you aren't into modifying the phone, def go w/ a nokia or mabyee a samsung...
If you get a moto, you would rele want to modify it to suit you and your provider better

the v635 is *way* above his $150/100 price tag.

I use the LG l1400i flip phone and I can't complain. Reception has been stellar, and the menus are easy to surf through. If the tmobile phone has the 850 band in adidition to the 1900mhz band then go for it. If not, your coverage might get limited.
