MPx 220 text message problem

Hi all, new user, and I just picked up an MPx 220 a few weeks ago.

I'm very happy with the phone overall, but the only thing that's bugging me is text messaging.

My last phone had T9 recognition, but I can't seem to find any way to enable T9 (or whatever it is that Windows Mobile has) to shorten my text 'typing' times. Text messages and carpal tunnel are not my friends.

For reference, it's S/W V1.030 and I flashed it with the 1.47 updates last week.

Pg 22 in the owners manual - hold down '*' to change between Multi-Tap, iTap, and numeric modes.
