Thanks for taking the time to read this.

When I plug my phone into the data cable, and the data cable into the computer, a yellow "found new hardware" balloon pops up on the right side of the taskbar...Which is good...It says: "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM"...

Then it goes to the Found New Hardware Wizard, and I've tried installing the software/drivers manually, and "automatically" (online)...But is just keeps saying that the hardware was not installed because the wizard could not find the necessary software...Nothing has worked so far...I'm flipping out here - I've spent the last 4 hours trying to get this thing up and running...

Here's a little more information, if that helps...I'm running Windows XP, I have Norton's Firewall and Antivirus running (though I've already tried disabling the Firewall), and when I go to Device Manager, the "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM" is listed under "Unknown Devices" with a yellow exclamation point...

I've read everything I could find online, and I still just can't figure it out...I even downloaded a zipped folder that someone was cool enough to post - those files didn't seem to help me either - unless I'm just not using them right and/or putting them in the right directory??...Please, Please, someone help me here...I would appreciate it greatly.

By the way, here are the files that I downloaded to a folder on my desktop...Not sure if any of them will help me, but here's what I have:

Cable_Driver.exe
DRemover98_2K.exe
ser2pl.sys
SER9PL.sys
SERSPL.INF
SERSPL.VXD
SERWPL.INF
setup.ini
slabbus.sys
slabcm95.cm
slabcmnt.sys
slabcomm.vxd
slabcr.sys
slabser.sys
slabvcd.vxd
slabvcr.vxd
slabwh95.sys
slabwhnt.sys
USB2k.exe
USB.exe
USB.u2k
USB.u98
USbus.inf
USBvxd.inf
USBw2.inf
USBwdm.inf

Some data cables can cause the phone to be mis-identifed. What type of phone is this?

It is the LGVX6100...I think the cable is probably alright - it's accepting the charge through it anyway (in other words, while it's connected to the computer, the phone charges)...I'm really lost here.

do a search for my user name and dl the LG phone driver.exe file from the LG website. Your problem will be solved. Had same problem yesterday. I only have two posts....And its the only one with responses..
