MPx220: SMS service # set by SIM, right?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I can't find a setting for it anywhere (Cingular 1.43) and it seems to work on T-Mo prepaid - most of the time

Whenever I test it, SMS from Tmo2go to Cingular works fine, but sometimes the messages never get to Cingular.

Any ideas?

TIA,
Richard

Ok, so I'm a bozo. Start->Settings->Phone->Call Options shows the SMS service center, but I'm still lost on why sometimes the SMS don't go through....

Well I can tell you that with T-Mobile (Contract) that there is an issue with replying to another carriers SMS. Meaning that if a Cingular phone sends a T-Mobile phone and SMS, the T-Mobile phone's "reply" will never reach the Cingular phone. The workaround for this is to just send a new messege in response to the SMS from another carrier customer. This may affect Tmo2go as I would imagine it is all the same system. Just some things you may want to test out...

You sir are a freaking genius! Despite the horribly inaccurate nature of my question, you hit the nail right on the head. Replies are precisely the problem! I didn't realize that until you mentioned replying and suddenly the light came on for me.

I'll search the T-mo forum to learn more about the reply problem, but in the meantime I've at least enabled delivery confirmation so I'll know which messages fail. (I tested and delivery confirmation DOES complain about the replies.)

Thank you again, you saved me HOURS of headache!

Feel free to search the MGN forums as well, as it may be better documented there...
