I have the 6620 and have read so many people savingABOU there 5600 that i'm starting to think maybe i'm missing sometim .The main thing i don't like about my nokia 6620 is the small cramped keyboard low speaker, earpiece volumes slow menus and OS and mediocre lcd quality. The main reason i use cell phones besides talking is to text message chat use cool and new apps free ones or warez the best :-)and listen to mp3 and watch short movie files. How do they compare on there terms lcd is the best claim many audiovox users. If anyone have used these two phones extensively and can give me there input and likes dislikes i would appreciate it very much. Not to forget include any software issues like the easy or difficult availability of warez apps and files games etc.Very important since i hate paying for stuff on a cell phone i just never own them long enough to justify all the expenses.Anyway thanks for your help you guys are the greatest. One more thing i forgot to say that might be the favorite of all who love Symbian how customizable is the 5600? Nokia has great themes colors icons custom folders u can create etc.How do they compare in this aspect? netfront v3.1 (wareZ) love that browser on my nokia as well.

The biggest issue for me causing the switch from the 6620 to the smt 5600 was the bluetooth. The ability to hear the phone ring through the speaker when connected to the bt headset. Also multiple bt connections on the SMT working at the same time, using bt GPS and the headset at the same time is a real bonus. RF on the 6620 was great!

I've had both this past year (on At&t) and liked both for different reasons.

* I liked the 6620 because of the nicer - bigger screen and the ability to see it clear as day in direct sunlight, EDGE speeds, Didn't seem as buggy or need to be restarted to make it run smoothe like the 5600 needed every now and then, the screen was more "scratch resistant", takes better pics and video than the SMT5600, 6620's joystick is easier to use (just hurts your thumb if you use it alot), standard Nokia chargers worked.

* I liked the SMT5600 because: It was smaller, Keypad was much smoother and nicer to work with, Pocket IE rendered stuff much cleaner for some reason and you could visit some sites with the 5600 that the 6620 had troubles with, Calls were louder and sounded fuller, ringer was louder (when it didn't mess up), Tons of free apps (some are buggy, but free), Mini USB connection on phone for charger, the home screen is more customizable than the 6620, and most of all it was a windows phone and I like WM better and the ability to sync easier with Outlook for dates.

Thats my $.02 worth, take it for whats it worth... I currently am back to a MPX220 which probably has more issues than both phones put together, so what do I know?

Why are you back with The mpx220.? Personally i love flip phones much better and was shying away from the moto cause of all it's bugs but i have read all these post about how new firmware 1.25 umbranded use it's suppose to take away most of the problems with stability and low volume etc and am really looking into possible giving it a try

Why am I back to the Mpx220?? You said it best, "I love flip phones". It's the only smartphone out right now to use with Cingular that is a flip phone. The Audiovox is still a less buggy phone and has a louder in call volume than the mpx220, but I like flips.

It seems you have alot of experience with having all these smartphones all at the same time.. do you know how to mess with the registry on the mpx220?/?? i read many guys talking about how they tweak the registry this and that as so to fully customize there home screen and menus sounds profiles etc.. i think i might get one of those mpx22o and give it a try i love my nokia 6620 but i still miss the flips...and the panasonic x800 just seems flimsy and vulnerable to me...is the mpx220 lcd as small and many guys make it out to be..?

if you have any advice on where to get free software or FREE's software please feel free to Pm and with that info i would appreciate it..seems with the new firmware there not as low volume or unstable as many groped and complained about.....? though one thing i loved about my V series Moto was the Seem Edits with LOUD ring tones speakerphone etc...
to bad this motorola canot be seem edited the same way..

Registry editing is very easy...I have a list of them on my blog as well as other things. Telejas can give a better comparison of the two then I can...I had a SMT but only for a few months...I didn't like it and I love my MPx 220. Any ROM newer than 1.30 is going to give you much noticed improvement in system performance. I am using the Asian 3.45 ROM which is very stable and works without a hitch. My volume levals are lould across the board...well for me it is other people may not thing so. I also have a list of apps in my Blog, some are free and some are not, there is a link to a site that has nothing but free apps.

Thanks Omega.. i'm gonna look deep into it..for now im probably goin to Ebay to try to find a mpx220 for sale at a good price hope i dont get a lemon.lol Im a big flip phone guy..I usually wear out the flip from opening and closing it all day long...

Anyway one thing i have heard about those Asian firmwares is the complaint about the fonts being Ugly and too small and menus looking not right. is the firmware you have these attributes? and if not where can i get this new firmware?: thanks again for your help and Input..guys...

You can change the font to any .ttf font you want. Instructions are on my blog to do this as well. Take note that only a few will look and fit the screen of the MPx 220 and SMT correctly. Nina, Tahoma, and Segoe (the new font on WM5 devices) You can get Segoe here

You can find the ROM and the Offline Updater at www.surrealnetworks.com. I have instructions on my blog on how to upgrade the ROM. Use the instructions for "not using a different .mlf file". The instructions are pretty straight forward.

Pardon my lack of knowledge OMEGA sir but i suppose the blog has some ( .ttf font ) on it since i have no idea what they are or where to get them except to assume from your explanation that they change the fonts on the phone..?

Also what is your opinion is it true wat some say that the Asian ROM's give small nasty fonts from default and these new fonts have to be installed before you see crisp nicer fonts like we are used to? any other improvements on earpiece or speaker volumes on specific ROM's from 1.25 up.?

Have any of the newer ROMs resolved or addressed the issue of the speakerphone not being able to work with the flip closed

The Asian ROM's have a "skinner font" font becase of the chineese language...it looks better to them that way I guess. .ttf is a font file on all windows PC's and Windows Mobile devices. It stands for True Type Fonts. You can find a slew of them on your computer, they are usually in the Fonts folder in leter of your hard drive with windows on it:\Windows. No I do not have any .ttf font files on my blog. Remember .ttf files don't change the fonts, the registry edits in the tutorial for changing the fonts in my blog do that, the .ttf files are the actual fonts. Fonts are a file and .ttf is one of the extions. It is my understanding that you can only use .ttf files on Windows Mobile devices.

If you want crisp fonts and don't want to change the font then flash to a non Asian ROM and do the registry edit for ClearType, see if you like it on, its off by default. If you don't like it just change it back. Again you can find this in my blog as well, you can find alot of things there so i'd suggest you browse around there and read. 1.39 and above should give you good volume in my honest opinion. Take note that the Asian ROM's have better Bluetooth options for setting up Bluetooth COM ports for GPS recievers than the non Asian ROM's do.

You need to do alot of reading on my blog, MGN (thats where my blog is) and here on HoFo.
