I was wondering if it is absolutely necessary to flash upgrade a 6230 to 5.5? This not a cingular phone, and is meant for use w/ T-mobile
thanks for the help

Is it doing everything you need it to (and in a stable manner)? If so you probably don't need to flash it.

i just got my 6230b flashed from 4.43 cingular to unbranded 5.50. it's much better. hasn't crashed yet. usually it would crash 3-4 times a day at the very least the way things were before
also the music player is improved since it sees tracks in subfolders in my mmc automatically.
it's overall much better. it was already lightning fast. i hope battery life and such are improved as well. signal might be better but that might just be me
if you have no problems, then i guess you dont need to. but i felt a big difference. then again i'm crazy
now i'm interested in getting my own clip to start providing service
anyone able to guide me in that direction for a good cheap clip that can do a wide range of phones?
also, bluetooth is much more stable with 5.50 as opposed to old 4.43

I was having crashes while using my hs810 headset with my 6230b 4.xx - Going to 5.35 resolved all problems for me.
Also, I used www.iunlock.com
