So I have reached my 1 full year and here is my thought on my Cingular Job

So I started here at Cingular on 09/28/04 seems like yestrday. And I thought since a lot of people here are unhappy and on the other hand we have some people that are ok with their job or they are just not complaining here.

Well here is my 2 cents on the last year:

I started in the good ol'e BLUE days and it was ok, I got to say with the takeover things have gotten better.... and even thought the quotas have been raised 5 times since the 1st of the year and it looks like our comp will be cut at the end of the year I still see some bright things about Cingular... For a lot of reps Cingular has been not so great since they are not using all the benefits...

I still have to say for working at the local mall I make more as a sales rep than most store managers do, also the healthcare is great... never hurts to have a free phone since I am a heavy phone user... The biggest thing for me is that both my old and my new manager are great they build the schedule around me being that I have senority in the store right now... also I just go aproved for a 60% of my college tuition so I am a happy person right now....

DOnt get me wrong I am not agreeing with where Cingular is going, I think that Cingular is making a huge mistake not treating their employees better... teh company customer service has not been the greates and not they are starting to get kicked out ob BBB and things like that.... I think that they should be making our job much easier and not harder... I know that it is in the best interest of teh company to reaise profits but that is not the answer to everything.... With this I can see why a lot of people are leaving Cingular left and right and we are hiring people that we are... I have a person at my store that should not be there but I have to deal with it like everyone else...

I am not one of those people that are giving Cingular a bad name I always go out of my way while I am in the store to help a person that needs help... also people that try to take their problems out on me, yell at me, lie to me or do anything that an adult should not do...well the only thig I can say to those people is "Have a Nice Day" translation "**** You Jerk" ...

So as far as I am concerned I will be sticking around for a while... not really sure how long and all of you that are leaving I know what you might be thinking but the grass is not always greener on the other side....

one of my friends had the same attitude as you do and he just got MAJORLY screwed by the very same company that he's been so good to over the last year or so.

what a freakin' shame...

If this is true, then I'm glad that I work for an agent. I've never been treated wrong or have had my comp cut.

Do agents offer a benefits package anywhere near that of Cingular's? I doubt it...

Good for you for sticking it out. I've been through a few mergers in my life and often things do get better. I know I'd be the first to go if I didn't see Cingular having potential to improve...

I've noticed a big discrepancy between people who do and people who don't post online. It seems like the majority of Cingular employees who post in here don't like their company. And that's fine, I'm not saying anything bad about them or trying to downplay their issues. But the majority of Cingular employees I talk to who AREN'T active on here seem okay with their company. I get a lot of "Yeah it's kind of rough right now but we just merged / they're working out the bugs / it's getting better / I've seen worse".

Are you an agent or a corp rep?

most corporate reps i know say, 'this place sucks..i want a new job'. every person except one at the store i started at have left. all of the the people were good reps too...just couldn't put up with the crap anymore.

I'm curious to see what happens in January. The official send off of blue...

No true up, unions, orange benefits.... just when you thought nothing else could change. Not to mention we are currently the most expensive wireless carrier and we are doing about half the numbers we did last year.

Crazy times.

The benefits are nice I will grant you that. But benefits do not pay my rent, or my car payment or my bills....etc....

Honestly outside of the cheap price for health insurance, I don't think the benefits are any better than any other company I worked for.

Plus I have to pay 1.45 % of my paycheck to these union bums! If I knew it would be worth while, I would start a movement to get the union voted OUT. They are worthless.

Now before you start off with how fabulous your job is, and how wonderful your life is. Please don't. I am very glad you are happy in your position. Sincerely I am. But that doesn't change the fact that Cingular and the union aren't making the rep's lives any easier.

4 days ago is 2 years since i started working for the agent that i am still with. ill go into more detail about what my new position is within a week because its not technically offical yet. but im a bit on the excited side.

Just a note: the union sucks...hard! And not just for Cing. employees, but their temps too. Retail has problems. The warehouses are being murdered by the union. Very sad.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone started an initiative to vote the CWA out of Cingular, or at least out of Company-Owned Retail. The CWA is totally worthless for RSCs. I know a few RSCs, and they are 'investigating' what would not be considered a violation of the Code of Business Conduct, while pursuing to vote the CWA out. I hope to see the day as a Cingular employee, that they achieve it.
