My MPX 220 shuts down on it's own when I close the phone after a phone call. It will do this everytime for a day and then be fine for a week. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix? I currently have 1.43 Rom. Should I change?

You can try reflashing to the same ROM version or upgrading to 1.47 or 1.49. If you want WMP10 and IMHO more stablity then go for an asian ROM.

Did you install something that might be acting up? Maybe a photo-contact program or something..

My MPx220 shuts off if I close the phone normally. I need to slowly close it and make sure it doesn't "clap" together. If it does, then it shuts off. Certainly sounds like a physical issue (as compared to a software issue), but it took me 3-4 weeks to get my phone back from Moto last time, so I'm hesitant to send it in again.

The same thing happened with my MPX220. I had the thing replaced by Cingular a long time ago (around the time the first ROM upgrade came out - before any hardware revision) but this was the last straw. I went and bought a Audiovox 5600. I have been using it for a week now and I like it much, much more. Sure the MPX was a bit faster but this thing actually works as a telephone which was eventually important to me (because of women). The clam shell phones just simply seem to wear out on me after too much heavy use. These candy bar phones seem to take more abuse.

take a little piece of paper about an inch long and half an inch wide and fold it up to where its about the size of the end of the battery (1/4" tall) and put it against the edge of the battery and the back end of the phone (pushes battery more snugly against the connectors) and granted i can't slam the phone shut, it shuts off way less than it did before that. I think motorola made the battery compartment like a mm too big and now it has that problem. just get used to being nice to your phone and shut it with two hands, plus if you do you won't get those keypad scratches on your screen
