Internet using unlocked Tmobile Razr on Cingular

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I've searched, but even though I've seen this question asked I have not found the solution.
I sold an unlocked Tmobile Razr to a Cingular user and he'd like to use this phone on Cingular, but the option to change the internet settings (so that he can change them to the Cingular ones) appear to be missing from the phone. Is there a way to get those settings changed, or at least get that menu option to appear so that he can change the settings? I saw some mention of sending the settings "over the air", but apparently that did not work for him. So, is this possible? Please provide details, or a link, if it is. Thanks

I dont know what to tell you if it's "missing" as Ive never heard of this option just not being there.

I assume you checked out these links that are provided in the FAQ as well.

I do know that on some of T-Mo's Nokias, they disabled the ability to change internet settings. It's possible that they have done the same thing here. There may be a seem edit that can fix that though.

Seem edit or browser unlock is necessary. Seem edit allows settings to be input via computer. Browser unlock will allow access to 'web sessions' whereby settings may be input using phone key pad.

Can't you just edit the settings on the T-Zones' to Cingular's? The only thing you cannot change would be the name.

If it's like other T-Mo phones, it doesn't even give you the option. The menu option that is on a Cingular or Unbranded phone is simply not there.

Could you please point me in the right direction on which seem I need to use to unlock the browser. I've done some reading, but I'm not sure that I'm ready to do this yet. Thanks

* Using P2Kman, download the file /a/WebSession
* Open this file in your XVI32.
* You'll see the information from each profile under Web Access > Web Sessions
* To unlock a web session, find the name of the web session in the file on the text side.
* Look at the three offsets prior to the first letter on the hex side.
* You should see 03 05 00, or you might see 01 05 00.
* Change the first number to "03" and the middle number to "04". (You should have 03 04 00.)
* Reupload the WebSession file to the /a/ directory.
* Make sure you change the attribute on the file to "4"
* Restart your phone and you can now edit or delete that web session!

Alternatively, you can find a Cingular monster pack (look in Motorola forum) then flash your V3 to a Cingular one. This will wipe out EVERYTHING on your phone but you might find it easier.

I just picked up an unlocked Motorola V3 on t-mobil brand it works fine for
making calls but i cant connect to the internet. i spent hours on the phone
with cingular and motorola and had no luck i was told i need to update
software on phone and was provided someone in my area, I contacted them and
they told me when the phone is unlocked you cant connect to the intermet.
Help

Thank you

yes you can. go have it either flashed and flexed to an unbranded flash/flex or cingular flash/flex.

If you get it flash/flexed to unbranded, you can find the Cingular WAP settings, and there is a new menu option in web access in office tools called web sessions where you put that info in.

OR and easier way is to get a usb cable (if your dont already have one)

and get p2kmenueditor (from motomodders.net) and enable web sessions, then find the cingular wap settings and enter them in.

Welcome to the boards!

Check out the mototrola modding FAQ for extensive info on how to flash the phone.... Too much there to re-post for you.
There is a ton of great info throughout this forum!
Also, you can use the "Search" link on the top left of this page to find the Cingular WAP settings (if you don't have everything, IP, user/password, etc). Once you re-flash the handset, it will be very easy to set up the GPRS.

Good luck!

Go to http://www.motomodders.net/

You'll be in good hands, they have all the information you could possibly want for flashing/flexing your V3.

I recently purchased an unlocked RAZR and then activated it with Cingular. I am unable to send multi media emails or access the WEB and Cingular Tech support told me that the reason was that my phone does not have the cingular "software" which is required for both multi media and WEB access.

Just as an FYI, when I go to the settings menu in the phone, it does not have a WEB settings sub-menu.

Is there somewhere I can get the cingular software for the phone. If so, is this something that I would have to "flash" the phone with??

Please someone help me....

search! go to the moto forum

Hey it's not any of that. You have no need for Cingular's software. Your unbranded phone does not have the settings for Cingular's WAP/MMS yet. I just had this problem, but I knew how to fix it just couldn't find the site. Finally found it. https://secure.mouse2mobile.com/cli...iguredevice.asp . It gives a Cingular Website which will send the configurations to your phone and set it up automatically for both WAP and MMS. Once you get those setup it should work.
