Back up process - "data not recognized"

As I will be swapping out my BB tomorrow I was doing a back up - I do not do it all that frequently or regularly. When I did it, and I think the last time I did it too, it said there was "data not recognized." I'm guessing that is some third party stuff that I have on there (wallpapers, games, ringtones, etc) that I can reload the old fashioned way when I get the new one.

Or should I be concerned that my data will not come across, or restore, when I get the replacement unit?

I've never heard of that before.... Did it appear as though the backup process worked at all, did it save a backup file? Or did the error message stop the whole process?

That is oh so not comforting......

It completes the process and there are several old versions of backups in the folder where I save them. There is one from a week ago.

It starts the process like normal and then half way through there is an error message that says data not recognized and after clicking on OK it will complete the process. At least it seems that way...?

Edit - Ok I watched it do the back up process and here is where the error message occurs. It will go along backing up databases and then when it gets to RMS database it gives the error message of Communication Error "the data was not recognized by the desktop," I then click OK and it completes the process.

I looked on RIM's site about RMS databases and communication errors. It says to disable the wireless sync - I am not on a BES and do not have that turned on. Also if I were to go into the proprer programs (calendar, tasks, etc) there is not an option to turn it off as the web site suggests.

Help!!!

Wirelessly posted (The Black Pearl MK.4: Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/3.1.8295/1690; en; U; ssr))

Try just plain old syncing the device. Does it give you an error message?

If not, try the backup process again.
