Bitpim or qpst don't recognize my 8100

I recently purchased a data cable for my 8100 and when I try to use bitpim or qpst they say there is no phone detected. I'm pretty sure the driver is installed properly and I am getting pretty frustrated with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am fairly new to this.

You might want to check the COM port the cable/phone shows up under, within the Device Manager on your computer. And then make sure that you select the same COM port in Bitpim under Edit > Settings. Once you have done that, it should work just fine. Hope it helps.

try, with the phone connected, going into menu- 0-000000-4-2
select UART1
ok
choose 1- PortMap(Data)
select UART1
ok

hope this helps, i have to do it everytime i use my 8100 with my cable
