First of all, let me apologize if this has already been posted. i did search for my questions, but did not see them answered.
I recently purchased a V551, and over all I like the phone, but have these concerns:
1. During phone calls the phone will randomly drop the call, even when I have full bars.
2. My screen will go blank after a few seconds, even though I hve turned my screensaver and battery saver off.
Is there some kind of software update out there that I need, or do I just have a crappy phone. Please advise. Thanks in advance for any help you guys offer.

#1 can happen with any phone in an area with low-signal.
#2 Is a limitation of the phone, actually many of the phones being sold these days will turn off the entire display, not just the backlight. If I remember correctly, Motos have settings under Initial Setup that supposedly control the backlight timeout and the display timeout independently, but it never worked for me on both a V400 and a V551.
Last but not least, it may be that your search did not return answers to these questions, but a little searching should have let you know these questions are to be posted on the Cingular Phones subforum.

Actually that's a v551 problem. My old v551 used to do the same thing....it's an issue with the phone/software I think, but if you call Cingular they are going to try to act like it's not their fault and tell you to turn off the phone for at least 5 minutes every few days. That fixes the problem, but you're going to have to do it every once in awhile which is annoying. I never had to turn off my old nokia for stuff like that.

that's just the backlight going out...nothing to worry about there...just how the phone settings are made
