T-Mobile denied Blackberry Internet Service to my 9500

I just tried getting my phone set up with Blackberry service on my 9500. I was able to get the Blackberry service plan added, but when it came time to synch my PIN and IMEI number to the Blackberry Internet Service portal on My T-Mobile, I started having trouble. So I called T-Mobile's wireless data group. Got transferred to Tier 2. And the Customer service person told me that T-Mobile is only allowing Blackberry's to connect through their interface. So I am a bit puzzled on how everyone else is getting theirs to work. Any ideas? Was the rep correct?

I just got mine to work yesterday. Didn't need to do anything exceptput the SIM and then log on to the T-Mobile site. By the time it made it there it knew I had changed the device and offered to change the pin. In 5 seconds, my service books were downloaded and all was working fine.

Did you get an error message or something? T-Mo won't disallow you having a non supported device on their network, they just can't help you much if you run into problems.

Yeah I am getting a message from the T-Mobile Blackberry site that it is unable to register my phone. BTW, what firmware do you have for the 9500?

I just got back my 9500 from Nokia yesterday. They loaded firmware version 5.22

Your problem may be that it takes a few hours sometimes for the blackberry service to get turned on when they add it to your sim card. All you should have to do is load up the software for the first time, run it, and it will register on the network, then you should be able to go to the website and add your pin and imei.

Cool thanks for all the replies. I think I need to get my firmware updated. I am still on 4.51 or something like that. How do I send it back to Nokia?
