I am looking for a new phone and am considering the e398. The only drawback that I can see is the lack of the 850 band. I live in seattle and wonder if that is going to be a problem. Also I travel around the US and would like to be able to use my phone everywhere.
If the e398 doesn't workout does anyone have a recommendation on a nice bluetooth phone. I looked at the v635 but it is too much like the v600, which I unfortunately have right now. Oh, and the rokr doesn't really appeal to me that much, otherwise that would be perfect, if it was black I would buy it though!

You can upgrade the e398 to 850, look around the moto forums

yes, the E398 can most certainly be upgraded to run on the 850 band. I just did mine a couple weeks ago and its been working great on my Cingular service. check out the Moto section of the forum. there's plenty of info in there to get you started.
here's a shot of my E398 after I changed the phone's middle strip.
