SaMsUnG D500/D600/E730 Wap Settings Rogers Canada

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: equinoxe81

I bought the E730 a month ago unlocked. I'm using it with Rogers Wireless in Canada.

Now, I'm trying to setup properly GPRS to access Internet and it's not working.

I tried several configurations and it still not working. I tried with the Fido SIM card of a friend with Fido's settings, it works well...

Also, my old Sony Ericsson T616 is working with Rogers for Internet.

So it's really the combination E730 - Rogers that doesn't work.
When I try to connect, the phone seems to connect... I see GPRS, the logo "G" appears... and it's searching... searching. After a while (1 minute), I get: Error: cannot resolve hostname.

Here's what I tried:

Profile: Rogers
Home URL: http://mymobilehomepage.rogers.com
Bearer: GPRS only
Proxy: Enable
1st Proxy IP: 208.200.67.150
1st Proxy port: 9203
2nd Proxy IP: 208.200.67.151
2nd Proxy port: 9201
3rd Proxy IP: 172.25.0.107
3rd Proxy port: 80
APN: goam.com (also tried internet.com)
Login ID: wapuser1
Password: wap

I tried also with proxy disable and:
DNS 1: 207.181.101.4
DNS 2: 207.181.101.5

Is someone has an idea where's the problem ?!?! Thanks a lot.

Posted by: alexjs

I have the same phone and I have the same problem. The only difference is that I get an error message saying "cannot connect to server". I have tried every setting and nothing works.

Are you using your phone as a MP3? if so, how are you downloading the music to your phone? Thanks.

Posted by: equinoxe81

I transfer mp3s from my computer or PDA by Bluetooth to my phone using File transfer...after, I get it in Music folder and can play it.

Posted by: alexjs

I have tried the GPRS settings and now I can receive MMS but still cannot send. Are you able to receive MMS right now? if not, I will send the settings exactly as I have them now.

Posted by: jello_boy

if you don't mind, can you post the gprs settings for fido?

thanks.

You need to got to Messages > Settings > Multimedia and put in the MMS settings for Rogers for it to work. You might want to look in the Rogers Forum for any that's posted.

I got both the WAP and MMS working on my D600 for Cingular using the D500 settings in the FAQ thread.

I recently purchased an unlocked samsung E-730 from ebay. After obtaining all the necessary info from FIDO (my service provider) I still have a problem with the MMS settings.

FIDO provided me with the following setting for my DSN1 & 2, but I keep getting a message on my LCD saying DSN error, and I can't send or receive MMS messages either.

Would someone please help me out?

my current settings are:

DNS1: 204.92.15.211

DNS2: 204.92.15.212

but the phone claims these settings are incorrect, so I would appreciate somebody to help me out.

Thanx in advance

Hofo member 4x4 posted this in the Rogers Forums:

I've got D600 MMS working perfectly on my new D600 for Rogers Wireless.

Do as follows:
menu> messages> settings> multimedia settings> mms profiles> profile settings

Next, select one of the unused profiles. For me, the first one was location 4.
Then:
Profile name: mms
Server URL: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
Proxy: enable

GPRS Settings:
IP Address: 172.025.000.107
Port: 8080
APN: media.com
Login ID: media
Password: mda01
Version: 1.2(100KB)

Once you have saved this, select your newly created 'mms' profile name as the Current Profile.

Enjoy!

did anyone verify is this works yet?

You need to type *#87927# to get to the Browser settings in the T-Mobile branded Samsung. From there, just overwrite the T-Mobile settings with the Rogers settings as it pertains to each line. Make sure to delete the other two settings as well.

For the MMS you will need to type *#87667# and overwrite them there too.

thank you but where do i type that

I've already reset the phone to factory settings.

both wap and mms settings worked on my D820

Posted by: mkool

4mynikka, How's your D820's battery life (as daily uses)? I read somewhere that shorter than D600. I was thinking go and get D820 but battery life, turn me down.

Posted by: Apachedelta

Thanks for the browser settings info, but do you have any info on the MMS settings? I called Rogers and they tried to help me through it, and I was able to send an MMS but not receive one. I think I still need to fine tune my settings.

I'm in the same boat...with the same phone. My wife's Motorola V220 is a quad-band and she's always getting a better reception than me, out in the country anyways. In the cities it's not a problem because there are towers everywhere.

Thanks, I tried the WAP setting on my new D600, works like a charm!

Will try the MMS stuff settings later! thanks.

any updates?

Posted by: naznbert

Hello all, I just got a D600 and was messing with the network settings. The reason I got this phone was to replace my z800i and wanted 850 band as the signal quality is not that great here at my apartment with the z800i. Now upon messing with network settings I cant get the samsung to pick up rogers network with a manual network search. So my question is how do i take advantage of rogers and 850 if I cant get my phone to pick up the network? Codes of any kind what am I missing. Cant manually enter the two networks like the sony ericsson phones?

Thanx in advance

Posted by: computerwiz20

try going to settings-network service-band selection, and then choose the 850/1900 cuz this is what rogers and fido uses. this will also save u some battery cuz it wont look for the other bands...hope this is what u mean...best of luck

Posted by: naznbert

I have the phone set to 850/1900 but network search only finds fido not rogers and there is no way to add rogers very frustrating!!!!!!!!!

Hi Ppl, any and all help is appreciated.

I got my phone in HK and brought it back to Toronto. Am with Rogers. Had it a few months now. Called Rogers since I couldn't online with it and it was a neat feature I've never had/used before. Rogers actually sent me a text saying I should check out this site.

Anyway, I have the Samsung d510 and I used the settings as advised above. I keep getting ERROR: NETWORK UNAVAILABLE. I'm not typing anything wrong or leaving anything out. It is set to the correct profile ... just can't seem to figure out what the heck the issue is and/or how to get around it.

Like I said, any/all help is deeply appreciated.

Thanks ppl! (great site by the way, very informative - hopefully I will get a chance to recprocate over time).

Hi,
I've just joined. I was referred here by rogers (Canada) because I have an unlocked Samsung d600 I've been using on their network, but because it is not a rogers phone I can't access my web browser, e-mail or mms services. They have sent me the data to program for my phone, but aren't able to tell me how to program it. I called samsung, and they could not tell me either. I've been able to program the internet and get access but then the "http:400 bad requset".
The problem is that the data rogers has sent does not fit into the fields under the browser profiles in the phone. I have been given Port1 and Port2 numbers, but the phone requires a proxy port. PLease help if possible. Here is the info rogers has supplied:

I've been trying to get it on my D900 (with D908 firmware), but still no luck on the MMS. Tried calling rogers and it's not something on their end. Tried resetting wap/gprs, and no luck. I may have muffed up the GPRS settings using the GPRS tool, so does anyone know what settings should be selected using that tool?

As for the WAP, all the games I tried downloading don't seem to be compatible with the d900. (monopoly, WPT, ultimate reversi, etc.) Even in accessing the samsung fun club, I get the error 504 not available.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the quick response..unfortunately it's still not working....

As a followup...this may be embarassing, but do I need some sort of Rogers mobile email account ??..I've just been assuming that I can use my Roger Hi-Speed Internet info as posted above...the thought occured to me that maybe I need some special email account that supports mobile email ??? <blush> ??

I'm thinkink this because with the smtp server I'm trying to use (smtp.rogerswirelessdata.com), would there not be an equivalent POP server (pop.rogerswirelessdata.com)...the one I posted above is the POP server I'm using for PC email....??

Sorry, I just got your message now. I think I got it working but I can't remember, I don't use it anymore. I gave it to my wife and truthfully, neither of us bother with the MMS anymore, it's just way too expensive through Rogers to use it. Sorry.

I have the same phone, but I haven't even managed that yet! Would you mind sharing the internet settings that you're using, dolphyn?

I am a newbie here, so first of all let me apologize if I am in the wrong thread. I have spent the last couple of days reading through all of the old threads and haven't come across anything specific to the Samsung E900. I have tried all of the various codes and resets listed here and on other sites, and still haven't been able to get the browser on this phone to work on the Rogers network. Is there anyone out there who has an E900 and has been successful in getting it to work on Rogers?

Thanks

I have FIDO SS SGH-a736, and I only have Rogers available. Im looking to open up this phone to make it completely compatable with the Roger GSM and WAP network. The handset is unlocked so I can use it for calls and sms only. I have access to all the settings, just need the info to go into them. Can someone help me complete the conversion???
