HELP with bitpim and filesystem issues

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have been messing around with bitpim, using the filesystem tab to write sounds to my phone and whatnot and now have a problem. I wrote sounds to the phone using this method (about 12 or so) and when I went to the phone only some were there. Then since I did not want this I tried to delete what was on the phone but it will not let me, I get a 'remove error' message, or sometimes a remove interrupt message. I then said well I will just delete them in filesystem on bitpim, did that and rebooted but im still scrwed. I deleted the mysound.dat file in filesystem but that has not worked. I now have these four sounds showing up in my sounds on my phone but there not actually there, do not play and cannot delete them. Does anyone know how to help me? Thanks in advance. I am still kind of new and learning this whole filssystem manipulating thing.

Best bet would be restore from your last backup. which is recent, of course, right?

You did do a root backup right?

If not....

Are you writing to the sounds folder? or Ringtones?

From "Feanish"'s post:

Here are the locations for important files:
\Brew\16452\ --- All uploads go somewhere in here.

mf --- My Flix

mp --- My Pix

ms --- My Sounds

lk\mr --- My Ringtones

\dload\ --- This contains information about flix/pix/sounds/ringtones
There will be a files very suggestively named, such as: my_ringtone.dat and my_ringtonesize.dat. These files contain lists of the ringtones, so they need to be updated. The phone will create new files if you delete the old ones, so whenever you add a ringtone, sound, pix or flix, delete the two corresponding files.
