I applied to work at T-mobile and cingular corporate, but both have not called me.. im kinda mad, cause i spent an hour on t-mobiles sales battery test, and passed it... they said a hiring manager should contact me within a week,, they didnt, so then i emailed them back, and they said they would forward it to the appropriate hiring manager, but they didnt....

Anyhow, im thinking of applying at an agent... Do agents get free employee lines, or discounts??? also..... whats it like working for an agent versus corporate?

Can you say freedom. Did both, am with an agent now. More money, more leeway, better customer service ( at least at our stores). However, the rate plan we recieve is a demo line which pretty much gives you 1000 minutes a month, 1000 N & W, unlimited text messages, 200 mms, and 5MB of internet. You can add other stuff if you like, this is in the Atlanta market.

Same conditions for agents in the GMR Greater Midwest Region...

only problem is that it's hard to find a good agent. i work for one that's ... ok ... i guess? bet corporate guys get better benifits. my company is kind of phoney. they act like they want to be this big corporation, but everything comes out kinda half-*****. benifits are week, artificial chain of command that is hardly able to respond to issues, etc.

our cingular rep, or whatever he is, is really quick to point out that u aren't wearing your name tag or when you aren't saying "welcome to cingular! my name is Jack Mehoff, and u must be Flo Nowurk, but can't help push things through when we have a 20 phone deal.

Let me suggest SC Kiosks, the cell phone stand inside Sam's Club. It's great, and we're owned by RadioShack, so benefits are GREAT. Pay is awesome, hourly-plus commission, I usually average $20/hr. No pressure on features, no secret shops, and we carry three carriers, so you have more oportunity to get the guy a phone. Check it out.

I worked for Wireless Retail before SC Kiosks took it over. I made some good money there. RadioShack crapped on me and a bunch of other people in my district, by firing us. Their reasoning was that we didn't meet their "Hiring Standards". I don't know what the hell that means since I was offered a job at T-Mobile, and I now work for Cingular Corporate. I don't know if it was a background check issue, or what.

In any case I did make good cash there, and the benefits were okay. They're worth checking out assuming that you'll pass all their tests beforehand.

RadioShack does background checks on the employees before hiring. They even do credit checks, if you have very bad credit they will not hire you(depending on why its bad). Felony? You're out.
