It has been reported that when trying to write the phonebook to the phone that it will error out with an unexpected exception.

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "gui.pyo", line 172, in run
File "gui.pyo", line 112, in __call__
File "gui.pyo", line 1674, in senddata
File "gui.pyo", line 1691, in writephonebook
File "com_lgvx4400.pyo", line 337, in savephonebook
File "com_lg.pyo", line 128, in sendpbcommand
File "p_lg.pyo", line 1985, in readfrombuffer
File "p_lg.pyo", line 330, in readfrombuffer
File "prototypes.pyo", line 206, in readfrombuffer
ValueError: The value read should be a constant of 255, but was 15 instead

If you get this, basically you have some data in your phonebook that is messing up the transfer. So there are two things for you to check.

1. If you are using any of the pager fields in Bitpim, it will possibly crash if you have any data in them. Try removing the data and sync your phone.

2. If you have any characters in the phone numbers like the # pound or an asterick *, this may also cause the Bitpim to crash. Either delete the entry and manually add or just remove the offending character.

I found the pager information after lots of search, the offending character was found through trial and error.

I hope this helps with any frustrations. Bitpim is such an awesome program.

One more thing that I saw caused a similar error:

I received the same general type of error, but I got mine when I tried to remove a ringer that was assigned to a phonebook entry.

It ended up deleting the tone, but left the name in the list.

please explain the errors in the thread ttled VX8100 "Get Phone Data" in bitpim

I get this error trying to overwrite the PRL on the phone. You know why that is? I'm trying to delete the old one and it also says that.

What is PRL? Not sure what that stands for - try asking in the Bitpim forum (though I don't see that here)

Whoadizzle - Would you please post a link to the thread you are talking about. I don't see it here and I don't know where the Bitpim Forum is. ty
