M75 to 850Mhz for Cingular?

I really want this phone, but will not purchase a 900/1800/1900 GSM phone for use with Cingular (my provider). I live in WI where there is 1900 coverage but do not want the decreased service due to lack of 850.

Any ideas like flashing the phone such as some did with the E398 or is this a hardware issue? Can I contact Siemens direct? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

It's all hardware, nothing you can do about it. According to some in this forum, Siemens is pulling out of North America and only the A76 will be available here. Bummer.

that really is a bummer. I wanted a durable, smaller candy style phone with 1+MP camera, mp3 player - this phone has ALL of that at a reasonable price.

Any other ideas? I really thought this phone would be perfect as I am outdoors a lot and abuse my phones.

Well, I don't know if the M65/M66 was ever released here with 850, but I'm sure you could hack some M75 firmware to it with a lot of work (no idea how it would be done, though). You could also just get the M75 and just deal with potentially worse RF in some places. No 850 had been fine for me til I actually started using an 850 compatible phone, which was the only way I'd get a good signal at home. YMMV, however. There are probably other options as well, I just want you to get the phone you want, you know?

I would be happy with a M66 as well, but cannot find ANY info on the phone....just the non US M65 900Mhz version.

Here is a snippet of the M66, but nothing else? http://www.mobiledia.com/forum/topic10165.html

Hmm I might contact Siemens to see what I can do?
