I was just thinking about getting this phone and i wanted some real user feedback on how it is. I will use it mostly for texting, vsun, and movies. so any experience with the phone and any of those functions would be appreciated. Also does this phone work with ORB?

Thank you,
Justin

Well texting is easy cause it has handwriting recognition and a virtual keyboard, as for movies the nokia 7710 has stereo output and a huge screen so listening to music and watching movies is a pleasure ..
But i must warn you .. the phone is kinda slow, nothing too major but its still slow compared to other phones

The speed is a slight concern for me, Is it going to be a lot slower compared to my 6630? Also what is the biggest MMC card you could fit in,is it 1 or 2 gig? And if i were to add a bigger memory would that speed the phone up? Also how is it for browsing the internet? Last this, how hard is it to find apps for this phone? do series 80 apps work or only series 90?

Thank you,
Justin

Actualy no, its not a lot slower than the 6630, and I believe that it supports 2gb but im not sure. Also the bigger the memory card, the slower the phone (this is true for all phones cause the phone has more data to handle)
The widescreen display is a huge 640x320 pixels so browsing the internet with the built in HTML/xHTML is great, plus the phone has EDGE so it gets high speed download speeds. Plus most series 80 apps work on this phone except the ones that require a keyboard..

great, i think im going to sell my 6630 and pick this phone up, four more questions though first. 1) where is the cheapest place to pick one of these up? 2) how hard is it to dial numbers on this phone ( im kinda concerned about how hard it will be to make calls while im driving.)? and 3) how to i get the upgraded firmware when i recieve my phone? 4) i have seen pictures of this phone in gold and silver, is there two different colors or not?

Thank you a lot for your help,
Justin

one more thing, is the shutter time for the camera really like 5 seconds?

1) cheapest I've seen was 400 USD at here
2)its pretty hard to use the phone while driving cuz you need to use both hands but you can use voice recognition
3)you're gonna have to take it to a cell phone repair shop and they can do it for you
4)I've seen this color and this color
5)as for the camera shutter question .. Its pretty slow and you have to hold the phone for like 3 seconds then you can move it but its not 5 seconds

does anyone know is series 60 apps works on this phone? also, is there a proper free-ware conversion tool for the vids?

Orb doesn't work to answer one of your questions that was neglected. Try to get the latest firmware version as that fixes some of the lag issues.

No s60 apps dont work .. only s90 and some s80 apps ..
As for the other question, I havent seen any free conversion tool for vids, but I strongly suggest that you get your hands on smartmovie(excellent quality & easy to use)

turns out I have like version 2 firmware on my phone :S.... does anyone where I can get this thing flashed in Mississauga or thereabouts?

Email Nightmare. Tell me if you have had this problem and how you fixed it, if so....

I am trying to get my Outlook email to work with t-Zones pro $9.99 plan on my 7710 (T-Mobile US). I have downloaded all the settings and have the secure mail connector running on my laptop. I can read my mail but for some reason I can't reply, forward or write a new message. It just stops, shows downloading, stops again, and continues.

Does anyone have any settings that work?

Hate to contradict you there... but I've gotten ORB working on my 7710, with T-Mobile. If you need help getting it to work properly, PM me.

I can't seem to view an Https:// site on the Nokia 7710 web browser. Any suggestions?

i am having problems viewing webpages as well, can someone please help me and mark? what setting should we have, i know we are supposed to be using vpn right?

Don't mean to butt in on this thread, but it seems like the only active 7710 thread. (though, admittedly, I'm not crazy about the HoFo forum search tool).

I have a friend at work that just got a 7710. Does anyone know if a Martin Fields screen protector will still allow for inputting with just a finger? I know the MF protectors work fine with styluses (stylii?) but I'm not sure how similar a finger is in terms of the screen (obviously I'm not a PDA user).

Thanks,
Brian

did anyone ever get stereo bluetooth headphones working with 7710? I know it doesn't support it natively, but maybe..just maybe..there are some haxors out there that updated the bt stack to 1.2 (if that's possible) with a2dp or maybe a mere mortal got some adapter workin EVEN with avrcp? I just got bluetake minis and lookin really hard for phone/opera capable/edge/mp3/fm/sometime movie playin phone? (besides k-jam that will support opera and a2dp within 2 month probably)
