When charging, why does my phone insist on ringing out loud on vibe mode?

I think the title is self explanatory.
If I set my phone to vibrate mode and then plug it
into the wall to charge, it'll ring out loud anyway.
This is really starting to piss me off and I hate
charging it during the day. Does this happen to
anyone else? If you try to turn on or off vibe mode
while the phone is plugged in charging, it says
"Feature Currently Unavailable"... Thanks.

See http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/F/feature.html, definition (6), for the definition of "feature" in this context.

Yep! it is kinda annoying!

I haven't had the experience yet of receiving a call while the charger is plugged into my K10 Royale, but I wouldn't be surprised if it does that, too. If you dig through the Kyocera User Guide, look for a section dealing with hands-free car kits. Apparently, the phone is designed to detect when the battery is being charged, and thus assumes it is hooked up in a charging cradle to operate hands-free in a car. In this situation the phone's firmware makes it behave differently in several respects.
I can understand the ringer volume being increased to maximum in an in-vehicle situation, but making it also vibrate doesn't make sense in an automobile. Perhaps it was done for the benefit of motorcyclists. One could be charging the phone from the motorcycle's electrical system while carrying the phone in one's pocket; the regular headset could be replaced with a combination throat microphone and earbud earphone. Due to engine, road and wind noise, and having one's ears covered by a crash helmet, it would be impossible to hear the phone, so the vibrate mode would be the solution. Having these features automatically engaged whenever the phone is on the charger is a benefit, not an annoyance, when viewed this way.
Maybe an engineer at Kyocera Wireless could confirm my reasoning.

It makes all of the sounds while charging even though on vibe. I can't play tetris while I'm charging because I can't stand the sounds.

I'm not sure how it works but I think while charging the vibe thing will be interfered by the cable...maybe that's why...but all phones are like that...and if you want to play tetris with no sound you can still manually turn off the sound...

I have a KX2 with Verizon, so I'm not sure if this will work for the slider. With the KX2, I also am not allowed to select "vibrate only" or "vibe then ring" when charging. However, I CAN select "lights only". So at least it won't ring out when I get a call, it will just flash. I just make sure the phone is in my peripheral sight, so I can see it light up.

It vides on external power because the assumption is that it is not on your person, and you will not feel the vibrate during an incoming call. This is so you can hear and respond to an incoming call.
Lights only is not over ridden.

Personally I really liked that 'feature' however I can see how it would annoy some. I always had my phone on vibe so it was cool that I didn't have to change the setting when charging.

Yeah,
All Kyocera phones behave the same way; ie. it's a standard feature of the phone. Depending on the carrier software that is installed on the phone the lights only feature may or may not be overriden when you plug the phone into AC.
My recommendation, if you REALLY dislike the feature you should call your carrier and let them know. It's ultimately that carriers that decide the software loads that go onto CDMA phones as opposed to the manufacturers.
