I have the Cingular version of the S40, s/w ver. 3.1.0. I read somewhere that Siemens won't update it, but I'll try giving them a call.
Anyhow, I noticed that when there is a long list of entries in the Phonebook, scrolling down has the effect of repainting the whole list and moving the cursor back all the way to the top when it gets to the 4th entry in the screen. Scrolling down should work like scrolling up on the list in the opposite direction.
Does anyone else have this problem?

Actually, the phone was bad. I have no idea why or how.
My 120+ entry address book got clobberred after the phone 'froze'... lcd lights on, no lcd display, no response to pressing power button.
Plus, it didn't charge the battery unless i turned it off.
So I went back to the dealer and got a new one. So far I haven't had problems... let's hope it stays this way.
