just a few minutes ago I downloaded a universal TV remote control application, it worked straight away.

using the phone in Japan, go to vodafone live and do a search in Japanese for TV remocon appli. select the 256k qvga one. It warns that it may not work with 903SH, but I downloaded it anyways and it worked fine.

Oh hehe, getting it from VF live! Japan is easy, but for those people who are outside Japan it's kinda hard...

256k appli work on the 903SH JP version without a problem, as it is backwards compatible with them.

Once you convert the DVD into SDVIDEO compatible format it's no bigger than 400-600mb.. ;p

If I recall correctly, リモコン　is what I used. it was not very easy to find, my wife (japanese) did most of the work, I "supervised" the undertaking.

If u send me a PM with your e-mail, I can send you the file that it downloaded to my phone, I moved it to my SD card, then copied it to my PC.

hi jpjones,
thanks for the pm. I loaded the files into the folder and then copied the folder into the games and more folder on the phone as you said, but then what do i do on the phone? i checked vappli and data folder but couldnt see anything.

I dont know. I downloaded it from Vodafone live, and it was on the handset memory, I moved it to the SD card, it was there and worked fine. I dont know what you need to do.

has anyone tried using OBEX Object Push to install the file over IrDA or Bluetooth from a PC? That might prompt the file to install. Otherwise maybe you can 'save link as' on the download link to avoid extracting (and destroying) the installer when you download it. is it an .sis file? I would go look myself but I couldnt give a flying ... about リモコン　ソーフト. Does anybody know about a real web browser (that I can gmail with) and a faster way to text, as the Japanese firmware is multitap in english mode?

perhaps it have to be dled thru gprs/wap and can't be access from the sd card? can transfer to sd card doesn't mean can run it from sd card

i think youre right wai_lai416.
i even tried transferring the files to the handset using my pc`s bluetooth filemanager. it transferred them to the handset succesfully, but they dont show up in any of the handset data folders so i cant even delete them from the phone! looks like it outsmarted me. not difficult!

you could try and place it on a webserver and link it via a HTML page.
then wap to the page and download it.
the phone 'might' then prompt if you want to save and install it.

this was the way i got java apps on to my nec 616v.
