I'm starting this thread to avoid other reading 60 pages of thread. This MP is for those who still like to Itunes on it and wont mind having this itunes cheat on it. Plenty of choices of MP out there, so make sure you read carefully is that what you like to have. Here you are:-
PCMMod v1.4d2 (Straightly for E398 (special upgrade required) and I398.

FOR E398 user with R372_G_XX_XX0_XXX software download all the files below:-
-E398 to I398 tutorial - PCMMod-Rev1.0
-R372 to R373 Conversion Flash.zip
“There is a trouble with 12i Preflash, is that the USB connection points to Memory card and not data/fax, that why when you flash the MP, everything seems OK but you can't power-up. 1 way I always tell people is to remove the tflash before they start. Else, you have to remember to change the USB connection from Memory to Data/Fax after 12i Preflash step.”
-Lastest PCMMod MP.

WARNING:-
Flashing from E398 to I398 is not 100% success rate. There must follow instruction on on backup.
For backup make sure your bootload version is below or same as 07.D0 to work. If your are above please downgrade it.

FOR those who want other original languages.

For newbie’s that came from E398, questions like what is ITUNES cheat / MP3 Player or anything that you suppose to know abt I398 please search first before you post).
· E398 Java MP3 wont work and playlist cannot be make.
· Itunes is expired and you still can run by back to these date (01-Apr-05 to 31-Aug-05) .
· PCMMod got Itunes cheat.
-What is Itunes Cheat?
-It is cheating yourself on date. You still run on back date for expired Itunes.
-You suppost to put the date 26/05/05 to give you - Wed 26-Oct-05 and not 26/10/05 !!!!
-One problem with the cheat which only allow you use it until 1 of Jan until the next Itunes cheat is out. Also will got problem with calender.
· Shorter Battery life expected in I398
· Certain older Java games may not support
· No Full Screen Viewer Yet.
· I398 slower than V398

This version won’t have major changes, it is only bug solving comparing to older version v1.4a. The only major that I classify is big improvement on the skins and mma_ucp to suit existing 3x3 menu skins and fix on those home key problems.

Before flashing: Suggest you backup you favourite multimedia files, websession, itap, seem 0032 and phonebooks.

· 7 songs (deletable), 3 songs from moto stock, 6 bas for motomixer.
· video: None (Add yourself)

BACK TO E398
There is only one way to go back to E398. This is by the special fullbackup you make using tool like Random 's flashbackup or RAMDRL as mentioned in tutorial.

muncheno can you upload the two new java apps the student calc and pocket protector

i just updated the moto skin and wow nice icons =) ver crisp and clear details, i like them but the three on the bottom ring styles, shortcuts security dont match lol, guess speed was changed in for nice graphics, it seems to be alot slower then before when moving from one item to another

macox is alot better now the bg seems to be fixed however multimedia needs to be colored better, when it flashes blue orange dots show around the edges

I found that the new moto skins that i put in does not look nice. I will send the original moto skin from v1.4 later.

And i havin problem on looking for free file hosting server that would allow manage files....

I'm assuming this is referring to iTunes because I can't access iTunes on my phone anymore.

Yeah I actually installed it last night from your site. I then noticed this problem this morning and was going to download it again to try to correct this problem.

I'll try reflashing it again once you find a place to get it posted. otherwise I'll have to wait until I get home from work.

I had this problem before and followed Muncheno's direction and it worked fine after i reflashed. Munchenos said not to fiddle around with your java stuff thru pk2tools coz that will make them corrupt.

Hi Muncheno, the MP is great! One thing I notice is that the network search is a little bit faster compare to PCMModv1.4c...

I'm having problem in restoring my phonebook.. I keep getting Access violation error in my PC when restoring using P2Ktools 0.8.6. Is there anything I missed because it did not happen when I flash PCMModv1.4c.

great work here muncheno, and everybody else responsible for the apps/skins/etc.. another question though, how do i disable the "ring lights" when i receive a message without disabling the event lights altogether? i'm able to disable the ring lights for calls but the setting doesn't affect the message alert.

And now, I flashed the 1.4d2 with Flashbackup, but i forgot to untick Flex, DSP, LP, ... I marked all. Is that bad?

Can you remove you link to v1.4d2 and upload it again with the file in my signature?
That is an exact v1.4d2 that you have with original moto skin.

Edit: I will remake the new moto skin in 3x3 and upload it after i solve my problem on getting a reliable file hosting server.

in 1.4c, the screensaver had a bar that showed the time and stuff on a bar. I have 1.4d now (not the latest) and it doesn't have that screensaver. is there something special I have to do to turn it on? is it included in 1.4d2?

Try -> Settings -> Personalize -> ScreenSaver -> Delay ->"set to 1 min".

I not quite sure i understand your question. The bar with clock is showing. If you goto keypad lock, you will see it. I try to find out for you, if you could give me more details on it.

i'm sorry, i will try to make it easier to understand.

in 1.4c when my phone was idle, it displayed the time in big bold letters on a white bar, with the LCD backlight off.

I'm using a backup of 1.4d, and it doesn't have this.

i tried changing the screensaver timeout to 1 minute, and changing the picture to "none" but it still doesn't show the time...

do you understand? i'm curious if you brought this back in 1.4d2

That only works if you set the 'Display Timeout' to 1 minute min. and the screensaver on or off - doesn't matter.

OK I flashed 1.4d2. first impression? OUCH! nasty square around the iTunes icon on the home screen

under the multimedia menu, the icon looks really amazing when selected. I think I prefer a "clear" or transparent background better than a blue background for the icon. it looks a little jagged/pixelated on the homescreen too. (sorry I'm so picky!) I also like the previous video recorder icon better (1.4c/d)

is there a flex to change it back to the previous icons? otherwise it's great, thanks for the new firmware!

Old Itunes/Video Icon can be found from my esnip.com link in my signature.
Look for PCMMod_DRM3.1. (DRM only)
Flash it with MFF.

Also when using Multi FlashFLex is it a Flex or Flash which box do i put it in?

Enable the flash tick top two boxes on the right
if you have i398 you can flash it no worries, and you can flash with any of the MPs if you dont like it. example you could try 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 or CD or the MP minus itunes (which i tried but wanted to go back to the beloved pcmmod itues impresses peoples more

this mp is for e398 so i guess the ticks should all be done the same way. So 1st and 2nd boxes are ticked the other 3rd n 4th should be unchecked.
also i dont even know wot gsm and 3g are i just trusted the tutorial

tutorials dont go wrong .. unless you bump the data cable during a flash!

Oh yea.. for those of you have flashed ur fones heaps.. have you felt that the battery life is shorter??? i have been feeling that it doesn't last very long.. always find my self having to charge it.. or maybe i'm losing track of time! although... i play alot of puzzle bubble!

Does anybody knows how use this iTunes Creator? It's looks great.. but i don't know how to use it.

Itunes creator allow you to transfer and play music in itunes in your phone without need for itunes software on pc. Also allow you to use songs in itunes and in light player with full name.

Itunes creator allow you to transfer and play music in itunes in your phone without need for itunes software on pc.
Copy itunes_creator.exe and 25 mp3 songs to your trans flash card(just to /b/-root not to any folder)
run this file itunes_creator.exe it will create some file in itunes and it will allow you to use songs in itunes and in light player with full name
you'll need to create folder /b/ in light player to play this songs

have you try it? i guess you just copied the instruction given... I've tried to install into my T-Flash using the given guide but it didn't work. When i ran this app it says invalid filename. Any ideas?

juts copy iTunes_creator.exe to T-Flash root /b and mp3 song to to that root then click iTunes_creator.exe ..... click iTunesDB.

Hey, do you means that using LP004D able to use itunes without expiry?
But i found that this LP is not complete. For eg. i set to simplified chinese, but some of the words still displayed in tradisional chinese......How?

So far i using LP0015 simplified chinese LP in 1.4d2 is ok, except the itunes still not able to cheat even i using the date format that recommanded by muncheno. any idea?

Perhaps muncheno should look into it also...

Hey all I'm on dialup internet so i got a slow connection...I saw the links above for the 1.4d2 download and I have only tried the 1.4d and don't have time tonight to download updated one. I noticed that in the 1.4c when you have itunes running in the background and you are using the iMOTOab skin the album art is partly hidden by the reception meter. I wasn't able to run iTunes in 1.4d so I was wonderin if this album art prob was the same in the 1.4d2?

Lol..you always give me very tough questions to answer.
Let me get you right....you got two questions there?

1st question it is?
Now with iMOTOab skins and running Itunes on background. Your album art from Itunes songs is partly hidden in the background.
-Can someone test it out for him, coz i dun have album art running. I will test it later and reply.

2nd question right?
You cant run Itunes in 1.4d.
- What is the error message?
- Suggestion:- Try to reflash it again or copy j2me0.* from the last I398.

If not 2 questions here, please let me test it out first. I cant promise anything if skin problem, coz that required to look into skin details.

I dun think there will be PCMMod v1.5 in short time. Coz we dun have itunes crack, and now only hopes are Ctunes and Vtunes from Adriano.

I hope he could find a way to hide his Ctunes, but again that maybe be more difficult than crack Itunes which still uncrackable yet.

easier than i thought...i made mistake. Just copy to /b root...
Now just using drag n drop mp3 files without itunes intalled on pc. itunes creator also can be use even by using t-flash adapter.

(faster way to copy mp3 files to t-flash)

Hey Muncheno don't worry bout my previous 2 questions...the album art appears only after display times out and i've locked keypad...don't stress over it

I noticed the iMOTOab skin from the transparent menu drm i think 1.4d first one, had dodgey animated icons with a white background for 3 out of the 4 frames...then again it could have been just me or maybe this issue was all ready resloved and I failed to read the reply....anyway I edited the skin to remove the white backgrounds in all menu icon animations so if you don't have this fixed pm me for me it and ill send it to you to show my appreciation for you GREAT WORK with customisng our phones

Hey everyone..

I'm sort of having a problem with the 1.4d2.

The volume I use in iTunes affects the volume outside of itunes. So sometimes when i'm listening to my music at 1 click before silent (in itunes) and quit itunes, it also sets it to the '1' volume in my ringtone volume.

How would you fix this? I'm missing crazy calls cuz i don't hear it!

It didn't do this prior (not even sure which version of pcmmod it started at)..

1st, great job Muncheno... I've tested the 1.4c MP.. really nice work there. Only the iTunes icon doesn't look sharp on the egde..perhaps you need a little touch up here in your next MP. Don't have the time to try out 1.4d yet... My phone looked very exhausting now... need some rest..

And thanks for putting me in your credit list name in startup animation plus startup sound..

lol yea you cant have it on silent or you cant hear the music, lol well dont silent the music =) and you'll be fine lol hopefully someone fixes the problem

Is it possible to change the video icon using skinner4moto? coz i can't find that icon in the iMOTOab skin.

I presume you are talking abt Itunes and not Lightplayer that cannot open your MP3.
You should use Itunes software to transfer your songs and for alternative method using the itunes creator, please read the previous post and also can download it (with instruction inside) from my links.

iBlack-p2, i put itunes on the homescreen and it isnt hidden, like the other icons are | and they open up but itunes icon shows just telling you

@anyone else do u still have the startup from 1.4a? where it goes loading i398 and has a progress bar i liked that one

Have you tried deleting the app in the java menu then installing updated itman 1.1 using either t/Flash or Midway?

Nope, you can replace a java program that required special permission. You need to remove and install it again.

Removal:-
On your Java, remove Itunes Manager by clicking Middle Soft key (Options) and select delete to remove.

Installation:-
Please read the tutorial inside the ITman 1.1/1.0 download.
(Please dun waste our efforts when we spend hours writting all the info / tutorials. Search Itunes manager thread if you wan more info.)

To install skins, please search for Soul814 visual guide. He put in his website and he posted it fews page ago. Search for it.
Just some basic info here, the skins are located in /c/mobile/skins/ for all I398_R373.
The *.ski file must be same name as the folder name. Recommended to use p2kcommander v3.2.X for adding skin/removal. Last words, take note on the attribute.

I just a lot of friends, and they said PCMMod1.4a is the best choice! They said PCMMod1.4a is stable, easy to edit home menu, full screen ID call, keyboard with vibration (even they set it at minimum), etc. What do you think? I think that you had a great Mp, maybe, you didnt know!

But same time also many people complaint about sound popping issue. Of coz i prefer the vibration and sound in 1.4a which is solid to sharp to me.
For full screen ID, i have not much comments on it coz it really depending on the skins.
Simple skins work the best.

i was having a problem yesterday it was weird i was on moto symbian skin went to GO TO URL and pressed okay then i was fine and clicked around a few times and it froze up and after that no matter what skin i was on it froze when i clicked OKAY at GO TO URL, it was a crazy bug lol, i had to flash my phone again and i changed all the settings back to how it was and there was no problem, i don't know what happened, I changed my settings back all the same

i guess i should of flashbackuped for you before i reflashed my phone but i made the same exact changes to my phone after i reflashed, so I don't know what caused the problem.

Changing the itapdictionary wouldn't crash your phone would it? I changed it and replaced it without the same amount of words it originally had.

Edits I made: 0032_0001 i removed my service provider, 01a8_0001 i removed the GPRS and data, i added both moto-symbian blue/red skin and updated the skins

Process: Skin was on moto-symbian-red, I went to GO TO URL (wimd.aol.com) and then I went to reply and then it hung, i restarted the phone and then i went to GO TO URL again and then i pressed OKAY and it hung, i repeated the process with different skins and the problem still existed

I dun think change operators name have anything deal with it unless your corrupted that file. Recommend you to use the function "p2k advance editor" this is easier to change the operator name. Can be found in the Motorola p2k tool site that i sent invitation to you, look for p2k3359.rar (i think).

Can you also send me your Itap file? and is the url address mention correct? I try to login to this website wimd.aol.com and it say page not found. My didnt hang.

well i already used flashbackup and fixed my phone and i already deleted the itap file, well what i did to the itap file was delete some entries here and there, i think what happened was that the number of words originally in the dictionary did not match up with how much was there after the edit

i think i may of found a few bugs

- when phone is not locked, club lights won't activate when receiving a call

- and if receiving a call while phone not locked, phone will continue to vibrate long after cancelling the call or caller hanging up because you didn't answer

no way to stop the vibration
i had to power off my phone to get it to stop vibrating

if you use p2k commander v3, in option, you can change from a to c, then reread, you shall able to access skins, be careful not to delete moto and techno and the skin you are using. otherwise you might have problem.

really like it. now i am using 1.4d2 but i liked the sounds that were in the previous versions, you know the popping sound that comes when we press the button, and when we plug in the charger, and the other sounds. is there anyway to get those sounds in this version??. and i'm waiting for the vTunes its gonna be the best thing ever. with it this phone will become the best!!

Offset 32 - bit 82 - bit 6 - keypad tone vibration (on/off)
(With tone sound + vibration, you will get the popping sound problem, however problem can be minimise by setting gaintable.bin->inner keypad vol ->0)

Original E398 (also with PCMMod v1.4a) would be vibration + sound.
Current PCMMod v1.4d2 should be sound only.
For those battery saver group.... can off both to save your penny.

I had a little trouble understanding seem edits, maybe it's since i'm new to this, after searching through many posts i managed to find a post by cristiano7 that disables this popping sound. it was seem 32 - offset 82 - bit 0 & 6. i wondered how can there be a bit 82 since it's only from 0 to 7. but who am i to tell i'm just a newbie, maybe this is the actual way of telling. anyway thanks for helping me out, you too cristiano7.

I got an adapter from ebay and it works perfectly pushed in, best bet would be to check there for 1. (just check the pics and get 1 with 3 rings on the plug)

Can you try this setting? I think your set all your vol. too high.

1) websession is depends on your websession file and you need to set it yourself.
2) E398 got no IR and i didnt set any IR with PCMMod MP.
3) Only starting from version v1.4d this ^@ Voicemail is corrected.
4) Only starting from version v1.4d this is set to start on Mon
5) Thumbnail is in v1.4d and i cant remember the older version but should be there.
6) I dun feel that silent details is a need here. Therefore i didnt set this function on.

okay .. could had swore i had to manually correct these items in the pcmod 1.4b

anyhow. cool.
as far as the websession file goes. yeah you set it.. but it doesnt let you choose it as a default. you gotta set the seem file to allow this to be operational.

u know in nokia phones when u pass a pic they make a thumb right to reduce the load time of the pics, y doesnt moto do that, everytime u view a pic again it takes forever to load depending on the size they should make a small thumbnail pic,

well i bought it from radio shack for 5 bucks about the same as ebay price i didnt feel like waiting for it to come the hassle, so yea i plugged it to my friends brand new e398 it was almost all the way in not exactly tho, i plugged it to my friends nokia 3650 and pushed it perfectly in and it worked, mine needs like about 1/8 inch out lol, differnet phones i guess works differnetly

o well its fine lol i dont really care that much, it works ish, lol so its fine, its a stereo to stereo, the sounds sound like stereo so its nice =) as long as i dont push it all the way in its fine lol i dont really feel like wasting another 5-6 bucks on a stereo headset lol when i got this one already

Nope..there isnt a way to do it yet. Unless motorola comeout with a new firmware that can.

I have a question can we get the skins form Rokr and use them with PCMMOD
Do you think it would be possible ( I guess it should be )
and if you post all the skins from shoey i398 I like the light blue skin....
if you work on the Rokr skins which has about 2k colours it would be great

There's Babelfish but the translations are never that great, someone bilingual would do a much better job.

i hit a bug today while using kde but i dont know how to retrace, i was in games and i noticed that there were no graphics, only thing that showed were the text, then i closed the app i was running and then i noticed that only my wall was showing, i go to menu and there are no icons, i go to my phonebook thro the shortcut keys and i notice that the screen isnt refreshing, meaning text displays but its overlapping
