I just notice that the front of my black v3 has about a .5mm gap between the front display screen and the body. I tried googling "razr gap" but came up with nothing. Is this happening with lotta other v3? or is it just mine?

it happened to my black v3 also.... it just doesnt fit perfectly,,, thats why i sold it and got the silver razr.... its a smaller gap and less noticeable because of the color..

I have the gap in my Razr's front also; I've also seen in all the Black V3's I've handled (3).

Were all your phones new from the store? Mine was from E bay and I know for sure someone hacked mine. Maybe it's just another shining example of Motorola's fine quality craftmanship

I got my black v3 brand new from a store, but mine still has that gap on the front lcd.

My first one was from an Cingular authorized dealer on eBay. The Second and Third were from Cingular XBM (1st was refurb and the 2nd was NIB). All had the gap. I think it's just Motorola's manufacturing style...

I just checked 3 Black RAZR's, here we are in Feb 2006 and they all HAVE that outer LCD gap on the front. Ya GO MOTO!

Im wondering if there isn't a design reason for this map.

Has anybody attempted to move the screen and if so how?

I dont think it is worth the effort, but I am sure somebody has tried.

Anybody have a camera to post a PIC?

I dont have that gap on my black nor on my girlfriends silver razr's. BUT, I changed her housing last night to unbranded pink( originally she wanted the D+G, so I lucked out) and now I have a major gap on the bottom of the flip btwn top and bottom. I think her makeup gunk is gonna eventualy find it way in there somehow. As soon as I can get pictures up I will.

Every RAZR V3 should have a slight space between the crystal CLI lense and the metal faceplate, as long as the specifications have not been changed by the suppliers. I would gather and have heard through the mill that this gap is to keep metal and crystal seperated as the metal could cause chips in the crystal's edge from vibration, shock, or shifting of the parts (everything in the world moves to some degree). If it were a more traditional plastic lense then they could butt the two pieces together without fear of chipping or cracking. They could have mated the two together with a rubber gasket somehow but then the faceplate would be stuck to the LCD section and make for very difficult disassembly of the unit.
