Hello,

I just recently got a Sanyo 8300 from Sprint as a replacement phone becasue my old Audiovox/Toshiba phone broke 3 times. Anyway, I bought a cable to hook it up to my PC through Gomadic. I went through all the instuctions and I cannot get the Sprint Connection Manager(SCM) (software that came with the cable) to see that my phone is connected. The SCM is a program that allows you to use your phone to connect to the internet. I install the program, install the drivers, but when I connect the phone I cannot get it to be recongnized by the SCM or BitPim (the date transfer software). It is in the device manager as a USB Modem like it should be. I just can't get any program to detect the phone. Is there some secret settings I have to enable? The guy from Gomadic says that he thinks that it what it is. in all reality I really just want to be able to transfer ringers, photos, phone book, etc. The whole connecting as a modem thing is not that important. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Why can you go into the Debug Menu and change the USB function to Modem?

i have no clue, i do know that when connected in modem mode the sanyo drivers i have work, yet while connected in composite mode my drivers dont work.

use as a modem was disabled in the sanyo 8300, 5600, and 2300. not sure if they disabled all usb functionality tho.

Whats the difference between the Modem mode and USB mode? I have the same issue with my VM 4500. Software from disc downloaded, but phone just stares at me and is not recognized by the computer. I have uninstalled several times to no avail. I see the Sanyo Modem set up in my Manager file under my computer, but the 2 dont seem to connect????

The latest version of BitPim supports the 8300 now.
