Hey Guys, Im Brand New to this HowardForums. I own the 8100 and I love all its features especially the MP3 player. My only issue is that I cant figure out ringtones!!??! I cant even get bitpim to detect my phone!? Its constantly saying "Failed to auto detect port to use". Can anyone please help w/ any suggestions or step by step instructions or even redirect me to a previous step by step forum on ringtones. Im using version Bitpim 7.35 and im using a mobile action lg6100/8000 data cable. TIA Guys any help or suggestions would be GREATLY GREATLY appreciated.

You've figured it out? Then by all means email me how you did it. Also, using bitpim, are you able to make your "sounds" work as ringtones? Thanks

I can't seem to get my MP3's used as a ringtone.I have the songs in my phone and I can play them, but not as a ringer. Any ideas? Thanks!

ringtones and songs are both mp3 but they are different animals

cat vs lion

ringers are 30 sec or less and belong in the mr folder on the phone,

full songs in the my_music folder can NOT be set as ringtones, ringtones must be in the mr folder

there is a card hack for storing ringtones but it still requires a separate folder on the card and if you turn the 8100 off the hack resets, and you have to do it over

i have 20 custom ringers in the mr folder of my 8100, yes its setting in the drawer fully charged ready to be used, its my backup phone
