Can u put ringtones on the nextel blackberry 7100i if yes how

Posted by: ReeseJohnson

I'm trying to figure that out too. please help if anyone knows

Posted by: martin_j001

Yes. They must be polyphonic and you have to surf to a website that hosts them using your blackberry. Then, you can play and download them from there. Also, you may be able to use sites like www.ringgophone.com --make sure to do their "trial" first to see if it works before you pay for anything.

Is your search finger broken? I gave you all the information you needed in the private message and yet you continue to post these threads all over the place.

It's always amazing that some people have enough money for these particular devices (the BB 7100i is not cheap) and yet they cannot find forum information for themselves even if it's been posted many, many times before. Sheesh.

purephase, whoa....calm down there, i get just as frustrated when i see a post that could have been easily searched but go easy......dont break the balls too harshly.

For some reason I've had two private messages about this, both of which I gave detailed information on how to find this information either here or on BlackBerryForums.

This is also the third thread that this particular user has started on this topic *after* I sent him the message back. They're not even trying!

Then if you guys know where its at then post the page smart ***

lol @ martin and his pm. thats funny. So honest opinion all.. do you think the music sounding ringtones will ever be an option on the 7100i?

Posted by: martin_j001

As stated, the 7100i is capable of playing polyphonic tones. Whether it will get any better than that is unknown. Most of RIM's user base probably wants louder ringtones, but I doubt they want actual music (mp3) ringtones--I can't imagine someone's phone going off with Biggie or Pac blaring away in the middle of their meeting LOL

A site was posted-- www.ringophone.com (sorry for the extra g in the original post, but it isn't that hard to figure out)--its the third post in this thread. It was also posted over at blackberryforums, and it was also pm'd to you. What more do you want--someone to show up at your house and type it in your browsers address bar for you?

Posted by: ReeseJohnson

lol i mean hey my boss loves tupac but i know she wouldnt want it on her berry, now me on the other hand i would love to have it but not having it is a trade im willing to take because the blackberry is so much better than many of the other devices on the market IMO

the 7100i is capable of playing WAV files, as some of the new ringtones are WAV format. we're currently attempting to figure out which sample rate, bit depth, channels, etc. are compatible with the 7100i, if it is even able to load them up from the web. the media player supports audio/midi and audio/x-wav MIME types, although it could very well be that the browser does not support audio/x-wav thus it won't recognize the file type.

when BES 4.1 comes out, for those on BES, it will support the attachment viewing/saving of wav files at that point, from what i understand.

i'm not sure which answers are being given in PM, but i think its obvious that the person is asking for true audio ringtones, be it the Oki-ADPCM or WAV or MP3 formats. Oki-ADPCM is supported by the 7100 series handhelds (sans 7100i and 7130e), and it would only be logical that the 7100i would support it as well. This is why the sticky on the BBF.com forums for the ADPCM ringtones does not help the 7100i users out one bit. it was not even until a day or two ago when the handheld OS software was released that it was realized that the 7100i supported WAV files within the media player.

hope that clears it up a bit. there's a few threads on BBF.com that are researching this functionality. i have just posted up various WAV files in varying formats, so you may want to test that. as i said, i know that the media player supports the WAV file format, but whether or not the browser does is another story - it may be a while before one can actually load any sort of non-MIDI ringtones onto the 7100i.

Yes you can have music tones on the 7100I I have some on my 7100T.
www.blackberrywallpapers.com

www.blackberryforums.com there is a hole list there.
If you do it from your phone, change the www. to wap.
