Hi, I have no clue when it comes to firmware. The S710a has a slow menu but i've heard you can fix this with a firmware update. how do i do this?

you have to flash it. there's no free way to update it.

you need a t28 service cable and use davinci or TMS

You can check your firmware revision by powering on your handset and entering the following joystick/keypad sequence/code.

<right> * <left> <left> * <left> * (disregard what you see on the LCD until you are finished entering the code)

Choose "SW Info" and it will either indicate that you have either:

1. R1A032
2. R1A033
3. R2A016

If you have #1 or #2, you may do what w000t mentioned just above and try to upgrade the phone's firmware to #3. If you have #3, you don't have any further options.

Please note that if you are a Cingular S710a customer, you should bring/send your handset to an authorized SE service center so that they can upgrade it to a Cingular branded R1A016--this will keep the AMR codec and also allow you to utilize the ENS features of the ATT/Cingular network. Some customers have even been succesful bringing their handset into a Cingular corporate store (not independent dealer), and requesting replacement due to poor performance. R2A016 is known to have remedied some of the "slow" menu navigation and freezing problems of previous handsets.

i have the 3rd firware. so its the updated one?

Would anyone know the firmware version for Rogers or would it be the same, because I looked and couldn't find the numbers.

#3 in my initial post. R2A016 is the most recent firmware--there's nothing newer than that.

I hope this isnt the wrong place but yes, I"m new. I need to upgrade my Bluetooth software. Where can I get that or do i have to buy it somewhere? I'm using 4.1 on SE K800 and I think that is way old. thank you
