Any way to mute the Treo 650 while on a call?

I'd like to mute the phone while on a call so that the party at the other end can't hear me, but I can hear them. This is handy for conference calls and such.

Now, I know about the sound-off switch at the top. But I don't think that it acts as a mute button during a call, it just turns phone sounds on and off. Also, I'd like to do this with the Treo itself, without using mute functions on an accessory headset.

Any comments or suggestions? Thanks.

My 650 has a microphone icon in the lower right corner of the screen while I'm on a call which works as a mute button - touch it and it puts a little 'x' over the mic.

I see, thanks. I thought that that was to record the call.
