Upgrade SL56 Firmware with irda?

Is this possible? I have a working irda connection between my laptop and sl56, but when using the update software for v11 it will only search for the phone on com ports 1 and 3, and for some reason cannot find my phone even though on my desktop I have an active connection to the phone. Can I only updgrade using the regular USB cable, or is there some way I can configur my settings to help the Siemens software detect the phone?

You must use the data cable to perform a firmware update.

...I guess I'll get the data cable then. Ironic that they disabled the data cable for transferring files and yet it's the only way to update the firmware.
