Treo 650 as modem?

Stupid question . . .

Can Treo 650 be used as wireless modem, so that I can connect it to my PC and browse internet in my PC? Can this be done via Bluetooth?

If this is not possible with Treo 650, is there any other phone (with bluetooth) that can do this?

I am currently using SprintPCS, but if needed, I'll switch my carrier just for this wireless modem feature. Thank you in advance.

good for you.

Such a good little helper you are. Jezus greenburg try helping instead of being so....whatever...aloof or something. Yes it can? Ok.. so .. .how? Did you want him to beg?

The answer is yes, it can be. I dont know how though, because like you, I know it CAN be done, but no one will tell exactly HOW. I asked for Mac OS X help and got laughed at.

I asked on windows and people just plain refused to help. The only answer you'll get here is:

"search"

Only problem is that everything you find varies on how to do it, and those that DO have it done are just to freakin snotty to share how.

"ha ha, look at me, I'm uber l33t and you arent."

Sorry but lgreenburg's attitude is the ... softest ... of the bunch. Seems that these forums arent for who they were ORIGINALLY intended. Started off, they were for guys like us to share how to do it. Now theres rules for some unknown godforsaken reason that doesnt make any sense.

I bet you $5 that people rip me for sayin this.

Good luck.
Bishop

Wow, talk about your over-reaction.

I simply answered the question. I don't see that the person asked "how" to use the Treo as a modem only "if" it could be done.

Take a pill.

yeah greenburg, sure, he's gonna ask about it and NOT know how to do it. We ALL believe that one. The next logical question is, ok if it can.. then how do i do it?

The easiest way to use the Treo as a modem is with PDA Net. It utilizes the Treo's hot sync cable. I have used it with a Sprint Treo 600 and a Cingular Treo 650 and it works flawlessly.

Here are instructions on how to do it with Bluetooth.

Bishop, if you need help with a Mac perhaps this tutorial would be of assistance. There's also this tutorial as well.

I'd also check out this post at Treo Central.

It's amazing what you can find using Google. I'm giving you the address for Google so you don't acuse me of being un-helpful.

And it's GREENBERG.

Now THAT is a GreenbErg post!

Thanks GreenbErg, you may now return to Superhero status.

I think one of the things here is that theres alot of info out there. I think guy just wanted to hear from someone that HAD done it and he wouldnt have to try all the different tutorials found through Google as a trial and error kind of thing. I think thats the gist of why most people, when they dare to ask, are asking inthe first place. Kind of a...

"i searched google and everywhere else and found WAY too may conflicting ways to do it and i found u guys. Can you help me do it without having to do the try this, if this doesnt work, try this... kind of thing."

I think thats what most people, when they ask, are really asking deep in their brain.

Next question on this topic is...how to do it with the EDGE? Using the treo as the internet.

I'm not sure I understand your question...

Either Edge will be available in the area you're in or it won't. Since the Treo has no Edge indicator the only way you'll know if you're taking advatage of Edge is by checking your download speed while connected.

I have the unlocked 650. it already has the dun icon on the blue tooth screen. Do I have to go thru all this hack stuff to get dun connected?
