can you make the sounds on the 8100 a ringtone?

I sent some to my phone, but cant figure out if its possible or not.

they are in the sounds folder right now, but can they be moved to the ringtones one?

Yes this isn't possible on that model or any new model for that matter. It was actually something that was discontinued with the VX5200 model.

Verizon wants revenue, revenue, revenue!!! Told LG to take the ability to create your own ring tones off all new phones.

actually, i doubt it has anything to do with revenue ... in case you forgot, there is an epidemic of illegal sharing of music/files/software via peer-to-peer networks across the globe. The fact that they only allow you purchase files to be used as ringtones meerly prevents the downloaders from having illegal data on the phone because anything you purchase on Get-It-Now is a legal download. Now i won't go into my thoughts on the absurdity of it costing more for a ringtone than it does to download a real mp3 - that i would agree is verizon thinking about revenue - but the fact that it costs money for the download isn't all that surprising.

well that sucks, I came to these forums with the same question.

but if I was to get a data cable, I could make my own ringtones, correct?
