(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

The LG CE 500 for Cingular just came out. I actually just purchased it and so far its a great phone. It is Triband and the speaker quality for ringtones and mp3s is really good. It has two speakers it uses for stereo sound on ringtones and on mp3 files. I got the phone at Best Buy and the associate informed me that the phone is a Best Buy Exclusive phone for Cingular. I wonder if thats true because I can't find the phone on Cingular's website or at any Cingular Store.

I've fiddled around with the included software so far for the mp3 files and its pretty simple. And Edge Class 10!!

Now if it only had BT, that might be a viable replacement for the Nokia 6230. Not sure how I feel about the mp3 buttons on the outside though...

locke629,

Nice job! And nice pictures. I've had mixed feelings about LG's on GSM, mostly due to less than stellar RF call holding performance when the signal isn't so hot.

Can you comment on your phone sounds when the signal isn't so great? (Don't look at bars necessarily, find a place where you KNOW the signal is crummy).

And, is the screen better than the LG C2000? The C2000 is supposed to be a TFT screen I think, but it doesn't look that great to me.

Well in my bedroom I get so so service. The call quality is good but not as good as my v551. The actually screen on the phone is good but the resolution isnt up to par like on my V551. The picture quality from the camera however is better then my V551. I've uploaded pictures from both to to my computer and the V551 isnt as clear s the one from the CE500. Ringtone quality is excellent though like I mentioned before. The actual ringtones it comes with aren't worth a dime but I've created my own ringtones on my computer and sent them to my phone!

oh sweet ... I've been waiting for this phone!! Did you buy it outright at best buy? or was it on new contract/upgrade? If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay?

Posted by: locke629

I bought it outright. I don't know how much it is for qualified upgrade or for a new customer. I work at Best Buy so I got it at a discount! But unfortunatley I can't reveal Employee Discount information on that but retail is $299.99

if only the camera was more than VGA.

Does it have a speakerphone? If so, does it work through the two speakers and is it loud and clear?

i want that phone. is at all best buys? i think i might go get it tommorow. and if i dont like its going on ebay

That thing is sexy looking!

Posted by: ILuvMyMac

It just may be true as far as it being a BB exlusive goes, or maybe CS is behind the game (big surprise) but I emailed them today to see if I could get one through telesales or what not and their reply was the CE500 doesn't exist. But, its listed under their device tutorials ... so ... hmm?

It's funny how all these Music phones are coming out and they all only accept Transflash cards which dont go higher than 512MB.So, how they expect people to use their phones as MP3 players?

Simple - they don't, especially when the manufacturer (or a subsidiary) makes mp3 players.

confirmed: no bluetooth?

Posted by: locke629

There is no bluetooth on the phone. And so far I don't think there is speaker phone cause I havnt been able to find an option. I think I'll check the manual. Oh and i do know about some other phones coming out for Cingular. Hehe, i love working at Best Buy and see wants coming in soon on our inventory. There is a new MOTO being released sometime in the next 2 weeks for cingular.

From what I know it will be at the majority of the Best Buys. Some Best Buys may not have recieved them yet but it all depends on the market. I live in Chicago so the Best Buy I work in has it and I'm sure all the Best Buy's downtown are going to have it. Also, I'm not surprised that they have another Exclusive phone. I remember this time last year the Motorola MPX220 was an exclusive for Best Buy till the end of November. I remember that was a huuuuge success. They were flying off the shelves at my store and most of the stores in the area.

Does anyone know if you can read text messages on that front lcd? It's one of those features that once you use it's hard to do without.

Posted by: tendura

This is a little wierd... I don't think that I've ever heard of a phone being exclusive to an agent/reseller. I've seen some phones be exclusive to the cingular.com website (i.e. LG A7110 Samsung C207), but never to agents.

Oh well.
