Blown Away by RAZR reception

On a whim the other day I bought a black RAZR. I thought sure, it's pretty, but does it live up to the hype? Bear in mind that I'm not a power user, I just want good reception, text messaging, and the very occasional ringtone download. I mainly wanted the big display that the v3 has. But now that I've used it a few days, I cannot believe how excellent the reception and voice quality are on this phone! I know this is nothing new to many folks here, but I just wanted to share my joy at apparently having found some sort of holy grail of reception.

maybe i'll get a RAZR when i upgrade in december. but what i really want is the RAZR 2, or RAZR V3i, or whatever you call it. i hope it comes out soon. (not the 3g RAZR V3x / V1150)

RAZR has been the best phone for reception for me. I used to have a 6230. That phone also got good reception, but not like the RAZR. Reception on that phone is awesome.

i have both the razr and 6230, both gets good receptions, but i just like the razr better lol.

V3 is very good, just a tad below the 6230 overall.

I'm not a so called power user either but this phone is by far the best I've ever used. Even better than the Startacs that I used with ATTWS, Sprint PCS and Verizon. It is interesting to compare the call capabilities with the Nokia 6102 which I just got when I migrated our final line last week. The 6102 can't even acquire a signal in our home while the V3 can.

I have a 710 and just love it but am thinking about the new razor with Verizon. Is the bluetooth disabled? What are the pros and cons with the 710 besides the battery life, anolog? I use the 710 with bluetooth with my zire 72 to get mail and love it. I would love to find someone to help me disable the obex that verizon has disabled.

I dont know about better, but it damn sure has great reception.

(and thats saying alot from someone who hardly ever says anything good about the Razr.)

I returned my 6682 today, fed up with all the problems.
Decided to get a razr instead and give up on smartphones until something else comes out that's worth having. I couldn't get a refund but got an hs850, 'premium' case and car charger to make up the difference between the cost of the 6682 and the razr, plus a little off my next bill.
I hope it's reliable.

The V3 does gets better reception compared to my 6682. However the K750i that I am borrowing from ASimpleFarmer gets better reception than the V3 slightly even though it does not have 850. Good thing I live in a non 850 area otherwise I probably would not be so pleased with the reception that this phone has to offer me.
